The Maslow motivation theory is one of the best known and most influential theories on workplace motivation.
Psychologist Abraham Maslow first developed his famous theory of individual development and motivation in the 1940’s. He suggested that human beings have a hierarchy of needs. That is, that all humans act in a way which will address basic needs, before moving on to satisfy other, so-called higher level needs.
Maslow represented this theory as a hierarchical triangle. This shows how basic needs must be met before one can “climb” the hierarchy, to address more complex needs.
For example, first one must meet the basic, physiological need for food, water and warmth. After that the focus would be on the need to be safe, then the need to belong to social groups, and so on up the hierarchy.
Maslow believed that human beings have a strong desire to reach their full potential. In his own words:
“A man’s desire for self-fulfillment, namely the tendency for him to become actually in what he is potentially: to become everything that one is capable of being….”

Here, in a series of bullet points which can be read in a minute i.e  some essentials ways to understand motivation in the workplace
Maslow Motivation Theory: The Hierarchy of Needs
The Maslow motivation theory is typically represented by 5 steps:
·         Physiological needs – such as hunger, thirst and sleep
·         Safety needs – such as security, protection from danger and freedom from pain.
·         Social needs – sometimes also referred to as love needs such as friendship, giving and receiving love, engaging in social activities and group membership.
·         Esteem needs – these include both self-respect and the esteem of others. For example, the desire for self-confidence and achievement, and recognition and appreciation.
·         Self-actualization – This is about the desire to develop and realize your full potential. To become everything you can be.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the death of spokesman of Adamawa chapter Mr, Samuel Zadock.

Zadock was killed by gunmen on Wednesday

Meanwhile, The Party’s National publicity secretary, Kola  Gentle Ologbondiyan reacting, expressed shock.

On his twitter page, he wrote: “The news of the murder of the@OfficialPDPNig Adamawa state Publicity Secretary came in as a rude shock to me and the Party as a family.

“This is a personal loss to me. Mr Samuel Zadock had helped to propagate in many ways the ideals of our great party.”

Furthermore,  former Vice President and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the latest sectarian crisis, which claimed the life of the Adamawa State PDP spokesperson, Samuel Zadock and 12 other victims.

Mr. Abubakar also condemned similar crisis in Kaduna and other places that have led to avoidable loss of lives in the country.
The former vice president said he was deeply embarrassed and utterly shocked by the continuing cycle of violence, revenge and counter revenge by ethnic warriors and militias in the country that has led to needless waste of precious human lives.

He noted that the reckless disregard for the sanctity of life is not only disturbing, but it also shows the failure of local leaders to manage differences and grievances, adding that “bloodshed cannot be the solution to those grievances.”

He explained that our common humanity is greater than our ethnic and religious differences and that the frequent resort to violence is inconsistent with the teachings of our religions about the sanctity of life.
Mr. Abubakar stressed that no society can achieve peace and happiness when love is replaced with violent and destructive hate and bigotry.
The former vice president called for cool headed approach to conflict resolutions instead of incitements to violence by ethnic and religious leaders, adding that those who encourage the destruction of life are unfit to lead others.

He also called for increased vigilance and prompt response to early signs of developing violence or conflicts in order to nip such crises in the bud.
He explained that the deployment of troops after lives have been lost “is tantamount to locking the stable door after the horse has bolted.”
While praising the efforts of security personnel and their sacrifices, he called for improved strategies and the use human intelligence to foil mass murderers before they strike.
