Hold on to your praises, I don't need them - Tinubu tells Kashamu

APC Chieftain, Chief Bola Tinubu has released a statement calling on the Ogun state Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu to hold on to his praises as he does not need them. Recall that Chief Buruji had in a open letter last week called the former Governor his role model and the architect of modern day democracy and asked for them to collaborate for the upliftment of the yorubaland even though they are from different political parties.
Tinubu in a statement released by his media aide, Segun Dada yesterday April 21st, said Buruji who worked with other PDP members to produce a defamatory document against him, Gen Buhari and other APC members cannot all of a sudden begin to sing his praises. He asked the politician to make a trip to the US first as a Senator elect before he, Tinubu, can associate with him. Choi. These politicians. Read the statement after the cut...

The statement in part reads; "The days of false adulation are gone in Nigerian politics. Fake praise singers like Kashamu will find that their particular craft is no longer in vogue. During this election cycle, their practice has dramatically turned from the way things are to how things used to be. Politicians will no longer be able to change direction and loyalties as if they were changing clothes. Those in politics must know that responsibility and accountability shall now follow them. One can no longer walk both sides of the street at the same time. In case Kashamu has not noticed, the politics of principle defeated the politics of posturing. Kashamu may be prodigal but he is no political son of Tinubu. Kashamu’s political lineage tracks to people like Bode George and President Jonathan. He should direct his encomiums to these men who are his true role models. They need his contrived affections more than Tinubu does. This same Kashamu rained insults on former President Olusegun Obasanjo in a vicious campaign of calumny. Kashamu’s party, the PDP, sponsored defamatory documentaries full of lies and innuendos against me, General Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of the APC. Please keep your peace until you make your trip to the USA as a senator-elect. Upon your return we can then have a conversation. We can then proceed with your repudiation of the PDP with a promise that you will stop corrupting and fouling the political system. I am a patriotic, law abiding Nigerian and my achievements make me world-renowned. I am a global citizen that travels freely to the USA, the United Kingdom and other nations. I associate with individuals who seek democracy and good governance for all. I do not spend time with characters whose values are at variance with societal expectations and laws governing a decent society".

Dear Jonathan Before You Go, #WhereIsOurMoney?

Over a year ago, Nigeria’s former central bank, CBN governor, now Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi raised an alert on alleged missing billions ($) in oil revenue. By February, the figure was reconciled at $20 billion. We then began to ask, #WhereIsOurMoney?

The CBN governor explained that within the space of 18 months (only one-and-a-half years) examined, $20 billion was found not remitted by the National petroleum company, NNPC.

The breakdown of the missing revenue included
$6 million looted daily via the kerosene subsidy scam run by oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke. Kerosene supposedly subsidized to be sold at a rate of N40.9/liter, sold at pumps at an average of N156/liter to Nigerian families, with the Diezani-oil cabal looting N100+/liter through her handful of cabal portfolio middle-men marketers. With over 10 million liters kerosene sold/day, $6+ million is looted from the masses this way every day, totaling another $4 billion for the 18 months visited.
A forensic audit was ordered by the Jonathan government. The summarily results (full report has never been released) found that $1.48 billion was confirmed missing for the 18 month period reviewed. In the news today, NNPC has refused to refund this 1.5 billion dollars. The rest 4+ years of Jonathan’s administration are yet to be audited.

According to Leadership, “PriceWaterHouse Coopers (PwC) determined that $3.38 billion relating to DPK subsidy cost was incurred by the NNPC for the review period. PwC confirmed that there was indeed a Presidential directive issued on the 15th of June 2009 instructing that subsidy on DPK be stopped and that there was a correspondence between PPPRA and the CBN governor to the effect that ‘PPPRA had ceased granting subsidy on kerosene since the Presidential directive of 15 June 2009, but kerosene subsidy was appropriated for in the 2012 and 2013 FGN budgets.’”

From the above we see evidence of at least $5.5 billion dollars missing by the NNPC in 18 months reviewed. The Jonathan government has been in power for almost 6 years. At this rate of unaccounted-for billions, no less than $22 billion is ‘missing’ or ‘unaccounted for’ in the world of former Sinate president David Mark, from open NNPC processes only.

This calculation is just one more of several on the different channels of revenue looting, before, during and after petroleum is sold, that find holes in the bucket through which not less than $130 billion has been looted by the Jonathan-led cabal the last 6 years and over $600 billion by the enmeshed devilish elite cabal since independence [see Punch, 27/10/2014].

This is big money. Really big money. This type of money could change the lives of all Nigerians at home and abroad even up to South Africa, and indeed could change the lives of all Africans.

So before president Jonathan leaves next month, on behalf of the good people of Nigeria; the 100 million desolate folk, the sick, dying and dead, we ask: dear president Jonathan, #WhereIsOurMoney?

Patience Jonathan's Role In The Sack of Police IG Exposed

Police chief Suleiman Abba has lost his job, becoming the first major casualty of Goodluck Jonathan’s loss in the just concluded presidential elections. He has since been replaced by Solomon Arase.

The Nation, in a report last Saturday, has revealed that Jonathan was under pressure to give Abba the boot - for alleged security and protocol breaches.

Credible sources in the presidency have disclosed that First Lady Patience Jonathan played a pivotal role in the events leading to the sack of IGP Abba.

Abba, The Nation learnt, had earlier been summoned by the President to defend himself against allegations by some PDP leaders and security chiefs regarding his role in the March 28 and April 11 elections.
Abba got the push because he rebuffed a presidential directive to make some “strategic moves” that would have favoured the ruling party in the two elections, the sources said.

One of them specifically mentioned Abba’s reluctance to redeploy the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone 6 Tunde Ogunsakin, from Rivers State to Cross River on the eve of the gubernatorial and Houses of Assembly elections.

The aim, it was gathered, was to enable the ruling party perfect what was described as its ectoral heist in some states in the Southsouth.

A source said when it became apparent that Abba was “using delay tactics” in carrying out the order, the First Lady, who was with some of her aides in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, instead of Bayelsa State where the President had gone to vote, called Dr. Jonathan demanded an immediate implementation of the directive, it was said.

Miffed by what she considered to be an affront, said the source, the First Lady said Abba would regret his tardiness.

Said the source: “I can categorically tell you that Abba would have saved his job but for what happened on the eve of the governorship election when we were in Port Harcourt. Could you believe that despite an initial signal from the authorities that Ogunsakin should be moved to Calabar, Abba was playing games with the directives? He was apparently not in the mood to comply. The President had to call him directly before the order was carried out, following a complaint made to him by the First Lady.

“I am also aware that the authorities are not happy with his conduct during the presidential election, especially his seeming closeness to the president-elect and his presence at presentation of Certificate of Return to Gen. Buhari in Abuja.

"He would have been allowed to stay on till the inauguration of the new government but for ignoring the wishes of the wife of the President.”

Jonathan is said to be demanding loyalty from all Service Chiefs until he leaves office on May 29.

Photos: Nigerian Lady Cons UK Employers of over N4m to Fund Luxury Wedding and Honeymoon

A convicted Nigerian fraudster stole £17,000 from the City firm where she worked after she started embezzling money on her second day in the job.

Gabrielle Yinka Saunders, 32, used company credit cards to pay for her £10,000 wedding, as well as a £5,000 honeymoon in the Seychelles. She was arrested at Heathrow when she returned from the honeymoon - but now she has been spared jail even though a court heard that she had been convicted of fraud twice previously.

According to DailyMail, Saunders, also known as Gabriella Osborne since getting married at Belair House in Dulwich last September, stole £35,000 from her previous employer PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where she worked as a tax accountant.

After serving a jail sentence, she started a £40,000-a-year job as a personal assistant at Insight
Investments in June last year.

But she proceeded to embezzle a total of £17,000 using her colleagues' credit cards - including £600 for flowers, £270 on a new watch, £210 on a new outfit and £400 for a mobile phone.

The Old Bailey heard Saunders came to the UK from Nigeria and graduated from Southampton University with a law degree in 2004, before starting work at PwC.

While working at the multinational firm, Saunders forged taxi receipts to destinations across the country at up to £250 a time, then signed them off by faking a colleague's signature.

In 2007 she was jailed for six months for fraud, and in 2011 she was again convicted of fraud but spared jail after a court heard she had stolen money from neighbour using credit cards.

The day after Saunders started working at Insight Investments in June, she charged £5,272 to a colleague's credit card in order to pay travel agent Trailfinders for her luxury honeymoon with husband David Osborne.

In September she used another colleague's card to pay £10,254 to Belair House, £268.20 to the jeweller Andrew Charles, £597 to PESH flowers, £208.44 to fashion store ASOS and £390 to EE T-mobile.

Prosecutor Roger Daniells-Smith said:
'She paid for a prestige wedding venue, she paid for the flowers, she paid for her honeymoon outfit and clothing.
'She paid for phone calls to make these arrangements and she paid for the gift of a watch. She paid for the honeymoon which was a first-class trip to Dubai and then on to the Seychelles.
'They were arrested at Heathrow when they returned to the UK and she made no comment in interview, but it was clear from the evidence that she was solely responsible for these frauds.'
Saunders, from Camberwell in south London, admitted seven counts of fraud totalling £16,990, and was sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment suspended for two years, with 200 hours of unpaid work.
However, Judge Stephen Gullick decided against jailing her after he was told that she had repaid the money and was retraining as a teacher.

“Let No One Play God!” Kashamu Replies Tinubu

Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu has reacted to Bola Tinubu’s slam over his statement released a few days ago where he praised the achievements of the APC National Leader over his role in the recently-concluded general elections.

In response to Kashamu’s adulation, Tinubu said he does not need praise-singing from someone who bought his election victory and is wanted in the United States for drug related offences.

An unhappy Kashamu released a statement to Tinubu’s response on Tuesday, April 21.
“My attention has been drawn to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reaction to the innocuous congratulatory messages that I sent to him and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“First, I must say that I doubt if the statement was approved by him. However, if it was, I must state that I am taken aback by the unwarranted attacks against me as if we were still campaigning. It is unbecoming of someone of his stature and calibre. It is high time politicians and leaders rose above petty issues and raise the bar in constitutional democracy. We should not just be democrats in words but also in deeds. We should play politics without bitterness.
It is on record that no Nigerian politician has taken former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the cleaners even as a sitting President like Asiwaju Tinubu did. Yet, Chief Obasanjo forgave him. As for me and Baba Obasanjo, he remains my father and leader, just as I am his son and follower. At no time did I abuse Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
As a true party man, I campaigned vigorously for my party and its candidates. Now, the elections are over, and as a true sportsman, I thought I should congratulate those who won. Short of any praise-singing, what I said in the congratulatory message that they chose to react to a week after it was published was that there was no way anyone can wish away the achievements of Asiwaju Tinubu in the nation’s political annals, particularly in Yoruba land.
Although I now belong to the opposition, your achievements transcend political divides and I am not ashamed to publicly acknowledge them. I salute your courage, commitment, doggedness, forthrightness and tenacity of purpose even in the face of daunting opposition and challenges. By your sheer wit and unwavering commitment to democratic ethos, true federalism and economic prosperity, you led the Alliance for Democracy (AD) from a one-party state to a regional party, and now a national party that is about to form the government at the centre.
How do these translate to praise-singing? Are they not facts of history that I merely adumbrated? He accused me of purchasing my election with money, the appropriate forum to prove that is the election petitions tribunal and not the pages of newspaper.
On the U.S case, I wish to state for the umpteenth time that the United States as the bastion of democracy and the Rule of Law would not lend itself to any form of abuse of the fundamental human rights of an innocent soul, especially one that has been arrested, tried and freed by its most trusted ally – the United Kingdom.
I am not running from any trial. All I have asked is for the relevant parties to follow due process – if they believe that I yet have a case to answer. I believe in the supremacy of the almighty Allah who frustrates the signs of liars and makes fools of diviners, who turns wise men back and makes their knowledge foolish. He is the ultimate decider of the fate of all mortals. When He says yes, no man can say no and when He says no, no man can say yes!
I stand with the almighty Allah Subhana Wa Tala. He is the protector of all humans. He is my refuge and shield. Let no one play God!”

#XenophobiaSA South Africa closes Consulate in Lagos over fears of revenge attacks

Following the anti-Xenophobic protests outside the consulate and at the South African High Commission in Abuja.,South Africa has closed its consulate in Lagos, Nigeria.

Netwerk24 reports  that South African consul general in Nigeria, Sam Monaisa, said in an e-mail to the South African business forum in that country that the closure would remain in force until Thursday.
The situation in Durban had calmed down, but he was concerned about the Nigerians that were being repatriated, he wrote.Nigerians were using social media to blow an already tense situation in South Africa out of proportion and stoking emotions.

This was why Nigerians maintained that their compatriots were being killed in South Africa daily, he said.
He warned the forum's members to stay alert and not move around unnecessarily. South African businesses and citizens became targets of threats and acts of retaliation whenever xenophobic attacks occurred in South Africa, he cautioned.
