You Have Now Elected a Government That Will Honour Its Duties

Tinubu-360x225
National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has assured Nigerians that the incoming administration will make their lives better…

The former Lagos governor, made this known on Thursday at the Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, during his lecture to mark the institution’s 12th convocation ceremony, during his address, he said:
I particularly rejoice with the youth of our nation whose hope and prospects for a better future are now bright. Their welfare and development are sure to receive much needed attention through the enhanced and progressive policies of the new federal government.
I must, however, state that for us as a nation to experience the change we yearn for, we should all be prepared for a fundamental change in our individual disposition and attitude toward nation building. This change at a personal level will help fuel a national re-orientation that will affect all sectors including governance. We must share the responsibility for change.
Let us use this opportunity to dedicate ourselves to ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach all and sundry. This is the only way to build a secure future for the teeming population of our youth, a large percentage of who have had to go through harsh experiences of insecurity, unemployment and an uncertain future. A great opportunity is now being presented to us to re-define our identity as a nation and re-order our values and priorities. This responsibility is yours as well as mine.
The nation can no longer afford to pay lip service to the development of her youths. I strongly believe that this country is blessed with vibrant and talented citizens whose capabilities for nation building are yet to be tapped. We must all stand in concert and unity of purpose to build a secure future for our country by developing our youth.
Government and youth have mutual duties in this regard. You owe as much to the nation as the nation owes to you. In the past, government has not always honoured its role. You have now elected a government that will honour its duties.
One of Government’s primary duties is to provide you with an education in harmony with the demands of our political economy. We must educate you with skills required by the job market that you shall encounter and not for some abstract economy found only in textbooks.
Then government must spur the economic growth that promises jobs and opportunity to all of you. A progressive government must turn its face from the austerity policies of the outgoing administrative that tried to manage poverty, but not end it. Such policies serve only to deepen and prolong the hardship of the average person. Such policies would lock us in a room without hope or safe exit. We dare not go in.
What do you think???

Bank of Industry (BOI) Introduces Nollyfund - A special product program for film makers/producers

In continuation of BOI’s support for the Nigerian Creative Industry, BOI has developed a special Product Program called “BOI NollyFund” under which Nigeria’s leading movie producers will receive financial support to produce international quality films and screen them through various platforms of movie distribution available both in Nigeria and internationally.

To support this process and ensure that only commercially viable scripts with good storylines benefit from the scheme, the Bank has set up a NollyFund Implementation Advisory Group made up of two (2) cinema management experts, one (1) national film distributor, two (2) production and post-production experts, two (2) film critics/reviewers, and two (2) film producers. The Group’s mandate is to critically review all the film scripts and associated budgets submitted to BOI by movie producers and make technical recommendations to BOI management for final credit appraisal and subsequent approval in line with the Bank’s Credit Policy.

NollyFund has an initial Program Limit of N1.0billion and a single obligor limit of N50million for individual loans.

The Fund can be accessed by Companies engaged in film production. Applicants are expected to provide commercially viable scripts and demonstrate a track record of successful movie productions. The producer is expected to sign up a reputable distributor who would issue a Minimum Guarantee and provide a cash deposit of 5% of the loan amount.  A Minimum Guarantee is a cash advance payable to the Producer by the Distributor in exchange for the exclusive rights to distribute a film in contractually stipulated media in agreed Sales Territory. This is similar to the internationally accepted loan structures for movie production and will definitely provide a great boost to Nigeria’s Nollywood.

The Bank has already accredited some reputable Distributors (namely: G-Media, Filmone Distribution Company, Silverbird Distribution Company and Genesis Deluxe Distribution Company) and Studio Operators (namely: Fans Connect Online Nigeria Limited (i.e. Afrinolly), Kingsley Ogoro Productions Limited and 4Screams International Nigeria Limited) to support this initiative.

It would be recalled that the Bank of Industry had in the recent past, financed the following creative-industry projects: Half of A Yellow Sun, Flower Girl, Digitization of Silverbird Cinemas, The Filmhouse, Viva Cinemas, Ozone Cinemas, G-media etc.

Interested movie producers are advised to visit www.boinigeria.com/nollyfund  to obtain more information on the Product features, the procedure for submission of applications, documentation requirements, pricing, amongst other relevant information.

Here’s Why Big Sean and Ariana Grande Broke Up

ariana big sean
Ariana Grande and Big Sean revealed not too long ago, that they have split – but everyone wondered what could have happened – And the break up announcement came shortly after Justin Bieber and Ariana danced on stage together and Big Sean was reported to have been angry about it – Well, TMZ seems to know why, they or should I say Sean decided to walk away… Read report below:

Sources tell TMZ … Sean claims it was him who broke off the relationship because she was “immature”. Sources say the downfall of their relationship started in February, when he made the most important appearance of his career at the House of Blues in West Hollywood. Everyone showed — Kanye, Bieber, JLo, Chris Brown, Jay Z, A$AP Rocky, Tyga, Kylie and Kendall — everyone except Ariana. We’re told she needed to get ready for the Grammy’s the next day, which he found extremely selfish.
Sean also traveled to see her “10 times more” than she went to see him. He claimed once she demanded that he blow tens of thousands of dollars to take a private jet to see her. Sean, who grew up poor, felt she was a spendthrift … a sign of immaturity.
But the crowning blow was just after the breakup. They were still talking and the door was slightly open for a reconciliation, when Bieber jumped onstage in L.A. and grabbed Ariana from behind. Even though Ariana pushed Biebs away, Sean believes it was all calculated — NOT by Bieber but Ariana — to hurt him.

If You've Looted Nigeria's Money You Must Return Our Money – Says Buhari

President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that his government will recover much of the monies looted from the treasuries of Nigeria with an initiative he will put in place.

Buhari said by the time his government's anti-corruption programme is unveiled, those who stole blindly from the government coffers would cough out every money that have stolen.

He insisted that, 'Stealing is now corruption and nobody will be allowed to go free with our money'.

Buhari made this known in Daura recently when responding to entreaties from supporters of the APC who urged him to keep to his promises to Nigerians and not take the war against corruption with levity.
He is set will put in place a committee to probe the monies generated by the Nigerian government in the past few years and determining how much had been misappropriated within the period.

One of the APC top members who was in attendance at the brief meeting in Daura said the President-elect was optimistic that those who stole from Nigeria in all tiers will return what they stole very soon.

He said Buhari was of the view that while he would not go all out to initiate a process to jail looters of the treasury, anyone who failed to co-operate with measures to be put in place for recovery of looted funds will have to face the consequences.

I Did The Right Thing During The Elections – Sacked IGP Abba

The former inspector general of police, Suleiman Abba, has said he did his very best and delivered a credible and peaceful election to the country during the 2015 general elections.

Abba was sacked on Tuesday in a statement by the Presidency who said the sack was with immediate effect. He was replaced by Solomon Arase, the former DIG in charge of Force Intelligence.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja, Abba said, “I want to thank the Almighty God, for seeing me into the office of IGP; like He said, He gives and He takes and He is also seeing me out as the IGP, particularly, when it is in good health and with the ovation I’m getting from my colleagues.

“To my colleagues, I know you have seen it all.
We started at a time that was very difficult in Nigerian history, a time when politics had picked up. We were getting ready for the elections and our whole attention, I would say, was on the elections, even though we kept on doing our best in managing our day to day activities.

“My happiness is that we have gone through it; the elections are almost over. I want to seize this opportunity to thank everyone, all stakeholders with regards to the 2015 elections for making it not only a reality, but also making it credible.

“I want to say that I want to move on with my life believing that life has steps and it is a journey."

Australia calls for return of fake Durex condoms in circulation

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has called for the return of fake Durex branded condoms sold on a discount online store called GroupOn Australia.

According to ACCC, the condoms had holes in their latex and had no possibility of protecting users from unwanted pregnancies or contacting sexually transmitted diseases. The fake condoms were sold between 12 March and 10 April with high possibility that they may have already been used by consumers. So Nigerian men, if by any chance you were in Australia in that time period and bought the condoms, biko return...:-)
