Largest ever Anaconda is captured in Ecuador (photos)

This massive, serpentine beast which is over 17ft doesn't only come from the family of the world's largest snakes. It is the largest ever captured. The capture of the Anaconda is part of a BBC documentary; Tribes, Predators and Me presented by Gordon Buchanan who lived alongside an indigenous Ecuadorian tribe, the Waorani, in the Amazon.

In the show, Buchanan joins a tribal family to hunt an Anaconda, the Amazon's most dangerous predator, the animal is a proven man-eater but the locals believe its capture and release is not only a sign of bravery but see the feat as a source of immense spiritual power.

There is also a scientific reason for the capture as the Waorani are losing their land to oil exploration - with scientists testing anacondas for the effects of oil pollution.

Buchanan lives alongside the indigenous people for two weeks learning their ways and how they have adapted to live alongside some of the world's most dangerous animals including Jaguars.

South London Church Fined over Loud Early Morning Services

A South London Church has been fined thousands of pounds for holding noisy 3am services aimed at fending off 'evil spirits, deliverance from sickness, financial hardship and demonic soul ties.'

Magistrates have ordered the leaders of Camberwell’s Kingdom Church, a branch of the Bishop Climate Ministries, to pay £7,740.50. This happened after the Southwark Council was flooded with complaints from nearby residents about the services every Saturday morning.

Church leaders were slapped with the fine at Camberwell Magistrates Court after being found guilty of two charges under Section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1980. The church has however decided to appeal the fine. A spokesman said, "It is a big fine and we will be appealing against it. I do not deny that we made some noise – we did. But we have spent nearly ten thousand pounds reducing the noise."

News: Revealed – List of Sons, Daughters, Relatives of Buhari, Atiku, IGP & More Illegally Hired by CBN

Central Bank of Nigeria – A list of at least 91 people tied to influential or highly placed Nigerians who were recently offered juicy appointments by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)in a hiring process that was highly secretive has been revealed. SaharaReporters has obtained a list of at least 91 people tied to influential or highly placed Nigerians who were recently offered juicy appointments by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in a hiring process that was highly secretive.
The list of beneficiaries of the CBN’s job largesse include a daughter of former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku, a son of Mamman Daura, a nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari and one of the closest members of the president’s inner circle, a son of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, a daughter of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’aba, also daughter of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, a son of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Abdurahman Danbazzau and at least 86 others. The highly controversial recruitment, seen as peddling of influence, first came to light a few weeks ago, but SaharaReporters just exclusively obtained the names of the beneficiaries.
The leaking of the irregular hires by the CBN caused significant embarrassment for the government and the bank. The CBN’s Director of Human Resources, Chizoba Mojekwu, was reportedly redeployed as the bank’s Director of Capacity Development and IT after CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, accused her of being behind the leaking of the list.
However, a top official of the CBN told a correspondent that Mr. Emefiele had arranged the hiring of relatives of top party leaders and powerful government officials as a strategy for saving his job.
Even though the list obtained by SaharaReporters has 91 names, sources at the CBN disclosed that the CBN Governor had started the practice of using job offers to woo top government officials since Buhari came into power on May 29, 2015. One source revealed that, in September 2015, Mr. Emefiele had hired Claire Arase, a daughter of Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase.
SaharaReporters learnt that the CBN often went to great lengths, including tweaking the names of recruits, in order to hide the identities of beneficiaries of politically motivated recruitment. Often the CBN used the beneficiaries’ first names and their father’s middle names to hide their real identities.
For instance, the bank listed Maryam Atiku as ‘Maryam Abubakar.’ In another case, the bank entered the name of the son of Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, as ‘Nagode Abdulrahman.’ In other instances, the bank used the maiden names of hired persons instead of their married names.
The recruitments are deemed irregular because the CBN failed to advertise the vacancies in order to allow opportunities to all qualified Nigerians to apply for the jobs. In addition, the bank’s ‘political’ recruitments did not follow principles of federal character set out for employment by government agencies and other public institutions.
Jobs were just handed to the children of ministers in the current administration,’ one bank official stated. The source added that many of the new hires were asked to pick their department of choice after their irregular employment was concluded.

Sunday Oliseh releases new controversial video, says he's withdrawn lawsuit against NFF

Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has released a new video saying he's withdrawing his suit against the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF. He maintained that some members of NFF have vested interest which is hindering the growth of football in Nigeria. Oliseh attached copies of his statement of account to prove that he was not paid his February salary. What he said and the video after the cut...

“I have instructed my lawyers to withdraw the lawsuit against the NFF. After speaking with well-meaning Nigerians, who I respect a lot, I also believe it is useless joining issues with people who are bent on deceiving Nigerians and misleading Nigerians and diverting attention from the reality. Certain vested interests in the NFF put their own interests first before that of Nigeria. My position of putting Nigeria first was a hindrance to certain vested interests in the NFF. If you put Nigeria first, you will always have problems with the NFF. This also explains why the benefits of players and wages and coaches are always placed secondary, while other things like team building trips will always be catered to first.”he said. Tiwa Savage gets emotional after visiting orphanage in South Africa today

Tiwa who is presently in South Africa, visited an orphanage there today and wrote on how emotional she got seeing the beautiful children there. She shared these photos above and wrote
"Today I visited an orphanage in Glenvista SA called "Door Of Hope" I think it is very important to try and sew a seed when I travel. I heard about this orphanage and how it started and I decided I had to go and do my little part to help.

"I don't even know when I started crying uncontrollably. These babies are so so so beautiful, I can't imagine how much hardship and pain these mothers must have gone through to make such a difficult decision. I also thought of where these little ones would end up if no one adopts them. 💔💔💔 we live in a harsh world and we judge people sometimes not knowing what their background is or what they've had to endure. I feel in love with their little souls, just watched some of them sleeping with their little hearts beating. God help us all create a better world for the little innocent ones".

Buhari condemns the political violence in Rivers state, vows to deal with all sponsors of violence

Press statement from the presidency...
President Buhari Tuesday in Malabo condemned recent political violence in Rivers State, saying that the killing of people over political differences was primitive, barbaric and unacceptable. "We will deal decisively with all sponsors of violence. I have given the security services clear directives in this regard. We will show that violence in any form will no longer be tolerated before, during or after elections," the President said at an interactive meeting with Nigerians resident in Equatorial Guinea.
President Buhari said that the Independent National Electoral Commission will be encouraged to explore the possibility of Nigerians abroad voting in the 2019 general elections. Noting that some African countries have started allowing their citizens resident abroad to vote in national elections, the President said that he fully empathised with the desire of Nigerians in the diaspora to vote in national elections. President Buhari pledged that he will therefore do all within his powers to fulfil that desire.
"I want all Nigerians to know that I respect them and their right to choose their leaders," he said

The President also said that establishing a new national airline was not currently on the Federal Government's list of priorities. President Buhari declared that his administration's main area of focus now was reducing the level of poverty in the country. The President said that developing the infrastructure needed to boost production in all sectors of the economy and create more jobs for young Nigerians, as well as other actions that will directly improve the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians will continue to be prioritized by his administration. President Buhari was responding to complaints by members of the Nigerian community about the absence of direct flights between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.

The President assured them that his administration's war against corruption will remain "fearless, relentless and merciless".
"We will be merciless and relentless in pursuing all those who abused public trust. Nigerians will see how some of the elite conspired to run the nation down," he said.

Buhari is president whether home or abroad – Presidency

The Presidency has stated categorically that President Muhammadu Buhari acts fully in the capacity of his office whether he is in Nigeria or abroad on official assignments.
In reaction to a report by an online news medium that vice president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, had to cancel his trip to India for the India-Africa conference because he did not want to relinquish power to Nigeria’s number three citizen, Senator Bukola Saraki, the Presidency noted that the President is still acting in his full capacity despite embarking on a state visit to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

In a statement issued by Laolu Akande, spokesperson for Prof Osinbajo, he said:

“Nigerians know wherever Mr. President is, at home or abroad he acts fully in his office except if on break, indisposed or incapacitated. So the question of his traveling creating a vacuum does not even exist at all.“It is simply untrue that an advance party from the Vice President’s office departed for India. No such thing happened because there was no such final decision to travel.
The statement then cleared the air on Nigeria’s participation at the summit.
“There are some insinuations online about Nigeria’s participation in the India-Africa conference holding from March 14-16 in New Delhi.”
“For the avoidance of any doubt, Nigeria’s delegation to the the meeting is led by Industry and Trade Minister, Dr. Okey Enelamah,” the statement read.

WHAT A MESS! Pastor Seduced His House Girl in Delta, Sentenced to Prison

You know you do not have enough self-control to be a pastor, why get involved? A magistrate court in Kwale, Ndokwa West area of Delta State has sentenced a 38-year-old Pastor, Ruben Okotie, to six months imprisonment for seducing his house maid with red candle.

Presiding magistrate of the Court, Chief magistrate Carl Moeteke, who sentenced the Pastor, said he was found guilty with overwhelmed evidence in a three counts of conspiracy, attempted r*pe and illicit s*xual act.

Pastor Ruben was sentenced to six months without option of fine to serve as warning to others.

It was gathered that the Pastor on the 22nd day of February 2016 in Kwale town seduced his housemaid with a red candle after his wife had gone to visit her sick parents in a neighbouring community.

The housemaid, 13yrs old Helen, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, was said to have resisted the attempt by the pastor to make love to her on her return from market where she had gone to buy food stuff and other cooking materials.

The pastor was said to have threatened to eject her from his house if she failed to comply. It was stated that a week after, the pastor pounced on the maid and pushed a red candle into her private part after forcing her into his bedroom.

He was reportedly arrested in Kwale when his wife reported the maid’s complaints to the police.

Police prosecution witness, Sgt Promise Enebeli, told the court that Pastor Ruben was arrested when the matter was reported at the Kwale Police Division, adding that upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime and was charged to the court.

Funny enough, the Pastor's lawyer, Mr. Thomas Okobi, had dismissed claims by his wife, Mrs. Esther Okotie, insisting that his client (Pastor Ruben) was innocent of the crime.

But the court said that the evidence against his was overwhelming and sent him to jail, straight.

Declare State of Emergency in Rivers State

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Abayomi Adesanya, has asked the President, Muhammadu Buhari, to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State.

Adesanya said a state of emergency was necessary in the oil rich state in order to forestall political violence and the breakdown of law and order.

The APC chieftain, in a statement on Sunday, condemned recent political violence in the state.

Adesanya said, “The rate at which innocent people are being killed and burnt alive in the name of politics is saddening, barbaric and worrisome.

"Provocative statements credited to Governor Nyesom Wike are worsening the situation. These statements are capable of causing confusion, leading to the breakdown of law and order in the state.

“It is obvious that Governor Wike has lost control of the state. As the chief security officer of the state, his primary duty is to secure lives of the people in the state but he has failed to do this. The crisis in Rivers State could have ended if not for the unwillingness of “powerful people” in government in the state.

“Therefore, to prevent the crisis from escalating and degenerating into further chaos, we passionately call on President Buhari to use the constitutional powers vested in him as the President to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State for peace to return.”

Governor Wike had threatened that INEC officials coming for election in Rivers should write their will.

Dear Nigerians, From April You Will Be Deported From The UK If You Earn Less Than £35,000

Nigerians, from next month, non-EU migrants in the UK earning less than £35,000 will be deported.

The new Home Office policy, which comes into force on April 6, applies to all overseas workers who have been in the UK for five years on a Tier 2 visa.

If they can’t prove that they’re earning more than £35,000, they will be denied settlement and will face deportation.

Teachers, IT professionals and journalists could all be badly affected.

A petition launched at the beginning of the year called for the threshold to be reconsidered – it gathered more than 100,000 signatures and was debated in parliament last week.

So what’s actually changing?

To settle in the UK as a skilled worker, non-EU migrants need to have a Tier 2 visa. For this you need:

  • An offer for a job in the UK that pays at least £20,800
  • Have had at least £945 in your bank account for 90 days
  • A certificate of sponsorship from your employer (which can cost between £536 and £1,476)
  • To pay a £200 annual healthcare surcharge
  • To prove your English language proficiency

After five years on this visa, skilled workers are able to apply for ‘indefinite leave to remain’ – and this is what is about to change.

From April, anyone applying for indefinite leave to remain will need to earn at least £35,000.

Nurses are temporarily exempt from this threshold, along with PhD-level jobs and any professions that have been on the official ‘shortage occupation list’ while the person has been living here.

However, the earnings threshold could be applied to migrant nurses in the future.

Teachers aren’t exempt (unless they are professors in certain disciplines). Even David Cameron’s mum has lost her job because of Tory cuts

In fact, the Home Office’s own analysis of the policy in 2012 revealed that the new threshold would have a significant impact on teachers, IT professionals and marketing managers.

What if I’ve been in the UK for more than five years?
Then you won’t be deported – the new rule doesn’t apply to anyone who entered the country on a Tier 2 visa on or before April 5 2011.

I’ve been here for a decade, will I be deported?
No – as long as you’ve been living here for 10 continuous years, you can apply for indefinite leave to remain with no salary threshold.

So if you came here in 2006 as a student visa, then moved directly onto a skilled workers’ visa, you can apply to settle here regardless of how much you earn.

The only condition is that you can’t have left the UK for more than 180 days at a time, or 540 days in total.

I’m here on a marriage visa, will I have to leave?

No, the changes only apply to people on a Tier 2 visa.
