You will die if you fail to vote Ambode – Oba of Lagos threatens Igbos in Lagos

Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu has threatened Igbos in Lagos, saying any Ibo man or woman who fails to vote Lagos state APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode as Governor in next Saturday’sgovernorship election will die within 7 days. According to Oba Akiolu, he owns Lagos and his bidding must be done by everyone in the state.
Daily Independent reports that Oba Akiolu gave out the threat when he met with Igbo leaders resident in Lagos at his Palace yesterday April 5th.
On Saturday, if any one of you goes against Ambode who I picked, that is your end. If it doesn’t happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and its not my father who gave birth to me. By  the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future. On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos state, the person is going to die inside this water.
For the Igbos and others in Lagos, they should go where the Oba of Lagos heads to. When they were coming to the state, they didn’t come with all their houses. But now they have properties in the state. So they must do my bidding. And that is the bidding of the ancestors of Lagos and God. I am not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he can never be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere you can not do it here.
If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you, if you go against my wish, you will perish in the water. I am for the progress, growth and development in Lagos, Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I the Oba of Lagos have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years. He is going on a mission and God will give him the wisdom and knowledge to fulfill that mission. Almost a year ago, I declared that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos and it will not change. From time immemorial, the previous occupiers  of this house will say what they wanted after consultation with other people. And this hasn’t change and it will not change at this time.” he allegedly said

I am not a miracle worker, Do not expect miracles – Buhari

President elect, Muhmmadu Buhari, has asked Nigerians not to expect him to perform miracles once he assumes power come May 29th. Gen Buhari said this while speaking on the war against Boko Haram in an interview with BBC. According to Buhari, the triumph against the sect members would not be immediately achieved once he gets into power but said with cooperation from Neighboring countries and the commitment of the military, the war would be won in a short time
“For five, six years, the Nigerian enforcement law agencies, including the military, couldn’t secure 14 Local Governments. How can I promise miracles when I come? But with the cooperation of our neighbours Cameroon, Chad, Niger and the international community, and the commitment we are going to get from the military, I think it will take us a much shorter time to deal with it”, he said.

Why Jonathan lost to Buhari – Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi speaks

Emir of Kano and former CBN governor, Muhammadu Sanusi II says President Jonathan lost the Presidential election because many people were not happy with him and his PDP-led government. In an interview with Punch, the Emir said high level of poverty in the nation played a deciding factor in the voting pattern in this year’s election. He said the PDP had in previous elections consistently lost in areas that President Obasanjo had majority of votes when he contested.
“I think in 2011, it was very clear that Jonathan had lost many states in the North that had previously been won by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. And it was clear that there was a general sense by people of the Federal Government not investing in the areas where there is a high level of poverty. I believe more and more of those states began to feel that sense of not feeling the federal presence and not feeling the impact of democracy in their pockets. And I think it is extremely important for people to connect with the government and when you have such conditions after 16 years of democracy, it was natural that people would want to have a change and I think this is basically what has happened. I don’t think it is something about an individual, I think it is something that has been going on for a number of years and you could see the states won by the PDP in 1999 and what they won in 2003, what they won in 2007, 2011 and you would begin to see the changes in the way Nigerians were responding so it was a matter of time.”he said

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has given assurances to Nigerians that he will handle state resources with utmost responsibility & honesty & would not condone the looting of public resources

He said this while receiving a delegation of the people from his home state, Katsina, who came to congratulate him winning the presidential election. Buhari said savings from his war against corruption would be ploughed into education with the objective of empowering citizens.
“If you give education to a man or woman, you have empowered them to be productive. There is no better way to empowerment,” Mr. Buhari said.
The President-elect, who exchanged banters with old schoolmates and kinsmen among the 130-odd delegation, spoke about his resolve to work with all Nigerians to pull Nigerians out of the current hardships facing them.

Mr. Buhari also expressed his commitment to multi-party democracy as the best system of government and appealed to all citizens to imbibe courage and perseverance, virtues he said, stood him in good stead in earning him victory after failing three times in the past presidential elections.
The leaders of the delegation, who spoke on the occasion, included the state Chairman of the Katsina State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mustapha Inuwa; a former Governor of the state, Saidu Barda, a leading Muslim cleric, a representative of federal legislators and a representative of the traditional institutions in the state.

They all pledged their support and commitment to the in-coming Buhari administration and promised to avoid the mistakes of others by imbibing humility and respect for all sections of the country.
