Imagine your birthday gift being one million euros! According to Mail Online Sports, Ivory Coast star Yaya Toure will celebrate his 32nd birthday on today Wednesday May 13th by picking up a staggering €1million bonus from Manchester City after they qualified for the Champions League.

The midfielder had the clause built in to his contract when he moved to the club in 2010. City secured Champions League football for next season at the weekend when they beat QPR and are one win away from a guaranteed place in the group stage of the competition.

The former Barcelona midfielder is paid a basic salary of £220,000 a week and signed a new four year contract in April 2013. This means he makes about N280million a month! Faints!

Lekki robbery: Suspect says he was given only N50k from operation

A suspected member of the armed robbery gang that attacked a bank in Lekki, Lagos in March this year says he was given only N50,000 from the operation that claimed the lives of three police officers and a teenage street hawker. Ekelemo Kuete.

The suspect, an Ondo state indigene, who is one of the four arrested this week, said 15 of them went for the operation and that he was the one that drove the speed boat that took the robbers to the crime scene and drove them after they had completed their operation.

"We were 15 in number that went for that operation and we used two speed boats. Five of us stayed back in the boat at Lekki while the other 10 went inside the bank. When they killed the policemen and two other civilians I queried them but they didn’t listen. I am the speed boat driver that took the armed robbery gang to Lekki on March 12, 2015. I didn’t want to go, they forced me, and after the operation, they gave me N50,000. I have not gone for robbery operation before now; I am into oil bunkering in Arepo along Lagos Ibadan expressway, a community in Ogun state. I know they were robbers when the contracted me to use my speed boat to convey them through the waterways to Lekki. I make money from oil bunkering between N50,000- N80,000 each time I go to work" he said.

How many companies do you know that have employees who work in the product that they sell? In Newark, Ohio, the employees of the Longaberger Basket Company work in a seven-story version of their product. The giant basket is 59 meters (192 ft) long by 38 meters (126 ft) wide at the base and 63 meters (208 ft) long by 43 meters (142 ft) wide at the top. Its handles weigh approximately 150 tons. Unsurprisingly, the seven-story Longaberger Basket Company headquarters holds the record for being the world’s largest basket.

The building was the dream child of Dave Longaberger, the company’s founder. Starting the company in 1976, Longaberger spent $30 million to build the office in 1996, and it took over two years to complete the structure. Originally, Longaberger planned to franchise the design, turning all of his company buildings across the US into versions of the company headquarters. Sadly, the dream passed away along with Longaberger. Right after the construction of the basket headquarters, Dave Longaberger died at 64 years old in 1999 from kidney cancer. However, his legacy lives on in both his company’s baskets and in one of the most bizarre company headquarters in the world.

No Nigerian Girl Should Be Married Before 17 -- Aisha Buhari

Wife of Nigeria’s President-elect, Aisha Buhari, has said that no girl should be married before age 17 while speaking to Channels TV at the sideline of the Global Women Conference held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She reportedly said: “We have heard so much from the Ministers of Women affairs from different countries. “We are trying to tally it with what is happening in Nigeria, to find out how we are lacking and in which aspect of women affairs that we are lacking and the ones that we have gone ahead. I think, so far, it is quite encouraging.
“We just need to put everything in practice than being in theory. If the government can stand up
and say every girl child must attend basic primary and secondary school education before getting married.
“I think nobody, no girl should be married before the age of 17 because if you really attend secondary school, you will have to be like 16 and 17 and I think by the time you are 18- 20, its quite a moderate time of having a child.

Burundi army general declares coup against the country's president

According to reports, Burundi's army general Godefroid Niyombare (left) has announced a coup against President Nkurunziza (right). Says he no longer recognizes Pierre Nkurunziza as President following massive protest and unrest over his bid to be re-elected for a third term.

According to the army chief, the army is working with civil society groups, religious leaders and politicians to form a transitional government. He told reporters at a military barracks that the president had violated the constitution by seeking a third term.

In a radio broadcast, Niyombare said;
“Regarding President Nkurunziza’s arrogance and defiance of the international community, which advised him to respect the constitution and Arusha peace agreement, the committee for the establishment of the national concord decide President Nkurunziza is dismissed, his government is dismissed too.
The masses have decided to take into their own hands the destiny of the nation to remedy this unconstitutional environment into which Burundi has been plunged.
"The masses vigorously and tenaciously reject President Nkurunziza's third-term mandate President Pierre Nkurunziza has been relieved of his duties. The government is overthrown." he said.
In a swift reaction, the office of the president has rubbished the general's declaration, calling it “a joke”. The president is in Tanzania at an African summit to discuss the crisis in his country

After the army general made the announcement, crowds who had earlier been out on the streets of the capital protesting against the president began cheering and celebrating his dismissal.

APC Government Would Ask Politicians to Refund Stolen Money – El-Rufai

Mr-Nasir-El-Rufai-360x225
Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Kaduna State Governor-elect, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday revealed that the incoming government of Muhammadu Buhari would ask corrupt politicians to return money they stole…

The governor-elect, while speaking with executive members of the National Union of Textile Garments and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, who visited him in Kaduna, also said that the Buhari administration would inherit a huge debt from the Goodluck Jonathan government
He said:
“We will politely ask those who stole government money to return the funds. This is because the people, who are in government now, are there to work for themselves. But the APC government is made up of people who are ready to work for the masses and the betterment of the country.
“We will work with the textile unions to ensure that the lives of the average Nigerians get better.”
Also adding that:
“We have met at a forum of northern governors-elect and we decided to ensure the revival of the textile industry. It is a shame that the largest economy in Africa imports textile materials from Senegal and other countries.”
There is hope abi???

'I'm effeminate, so what?' - written by LIB reader, Onyx Godwin

Popular LIB reader, Onyx Godwin writes heartfelt article about his feminine stature and mannerism and how he deals with people's negative reaction to him. Read below...
Growing up, I always hear people call me "woman wrapper", people told me I behaved like a girl. I was just a kid in primary school then, I didn't know how a guy or girl behaves, so I was confused, shy, angry and depressed for a long time. The constant mockery in school and even in the church I used to attend, I always got and still get three basic reactions - the baffled and astonished, the indifferent and the one's that are out-rightly disgusted by me. I will take my time to explain this three set of people, just patiently read on...
1. The baffled and astonished; this set of people are shocked and surprised at my effeminacy, they feel amused seeing a guy who behaves more like a girl than girls, they are not irritated or angry at you, they try being your friend and having you around because of your rare and unique nature.
2.The indifferent; this set of people don't care, they feel less concerned and don't give any thought to your effeminacy, they simply move on with their lives!
3.The irritated; this set of people are disgusted by your sight, they mock you in public, bully you, call you " homo" or gay at any given chance, they will gladly kill you and feel no remorse.
This three set of people shaped who i am today,i grew up to be very strong and bold,i had series of depression,i was rejected and laughed at.i remember finishing high school in 2012, admission  was taking my time and i decided to work, the guys in the interview room were laughing and asked -u go sabi work so? See as u dey behave like woman and thin join.lol, guess what?most of them didn't get the job,i did! I ended up working there for over a year, even got promoted!
Many guys refuse hanging out with you, being friends with you or even walking with you because they will be labelled gay,EVEN GAYS THEMSELVES DISCRIMINATE ON EFFEMINATE GUYS TOO! PATHETIC
Yes we are effeminate, we behave like girls, we aren't men enough,we sway our hips, swirl our eyes and hands, belly dance, twerk and so much more, but does that make us less human than you lot? Does that mean we should get mocked ? Laughed at? Embarrassed?
I have major problems with Jonathan signing the anti-gay bill because it directly incriminate and endanger we effeminate guys, the society has already labelled us gays, the law sinply back them up and give them the liberty to brutalize us and get away with it!

Yes i am effeminate,i didn't choose to be like this,i did not create myself,i did not choose to sway my hips, bat my eyelashes, draw my words knowing damn well the world we live in.
You igbos  know how it felt when kunle afolayan came for the yoruba weeks back?you all know how it feels to look for a job and not getting the employment because you are from a certain tribe, you all know how it feels when you are mocked for being short, dark, ugly, big nose, big eyes and all the naija usual yabbing, you all complain about racism even though the people that complain more haven't even left their state.if all this mentioned is not ok and degrading, why do you think it is ok to mock and degrade a guy because nature made him a "woman wrapper"?

Patience Jonathan Denies Blocking Aisha Buhari From Becoming Summit President

patience-jona1
There were reports recently that the Wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, plans to host the 8th summit of the African First Ladies Peace Mission on Friday in order to deny the wife of the President-elect, Hajia Aisha Buhari, the opportunity of becoming the President of the mission…

Mrs. Jonathan, happens to be the present President, and had summoned a meeting of the mission which will produce new executive members but reports had it that the election was supposed to be held in July but the President’s wife brought it back to May to allow her successor to emerge before her husband will cease to be President from May 29… However, Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, in a statement on Tuesday denied the validity of the reports.
Adewuyi said Mrs. Jonathan was elected President in July 2012 and was meant to serve for two years(2014), according to the group’s internal regulation – But at the time a fresh election should have held, the President’s wife explained that preparation for the then forthcoming election in Nigeria, would not enable her host the summit, she therefore asked that the summit should hold after the general elections, and it was accordingly agreed that it should be held in July 2015.
The summit members therefore agreed that if President Goodluck Jonathan did not succeed in his re-election bid, the President’s wife would convene the summit in May to enable the election of a new President and ensure a smooth handover since her tenure has ended – He said:
“Arising from the above, it is therefore clear that this is not a personal matter nor specifically a Nigeria sole affair but a continental platform governed by its own rules and protocols just as similar international organisations.
“It would therefore be out of place for anyone to insinuate that it is intended to shut out the incoming First Lady. This cannot be farther from the truth.
“We state therefore without any iota of equivocation that it is mischievous for anyone to scheme to cause disaffection between the outgoing and incoming First Ladies, Dame Patience Jonathan, and Hajia Aisha Buhari.
“Let us therefore come together in our tradition of hospitality to heartily welcome our guests, the African First Ladies, as they arrive Abuja for the 8th Summit of the Mission.
“Let us always remember that the personal ambition of anybody is not worth destroying the image of the nation.”
What do you think???
