"Despite her success – 2010’s Basic Instinct is the only one of her albums not to reach the US top5 – she's never become a household name like Rihanna or Beyoncé.
“You know what I think?” she asks, rhetorically. “Everything’s about timing. I’ve had records just as big as those artists, I’ve had No 1 songs around the world. My biggest competition is me.” That and her old label, perhaps. After Basic Instinct only reached No 44, she left LaFace/Jive, announcing on Facebook that they had not supported her enough. Her next album, Ciara, released on Epic, duly went to No 2. “There’s no doubt in my mind how high up this train can go,” she says calmly. “I faced those challenges. I don’t see myself beneath Beyoncé and Jay Z; I don’t see myself above them. I’m in my own world, hungry to grow.”After this segment of the interview circulated online, Ciara's Instagram page simultaneously erupted into swarms of bees and hundreds of anchors. “Contrary to the claims of petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, the audit report does not exonerate the NNPC. It establishes that the gap between the company’s oil revenues between January 2012 and July 2013 and cash remitted to the government for the same period was $18.5bn,” Sanusi said.
“The clash occurred in the early hours of Thursday. The police were acting on a tip-off that those vandals were at the Obadore waterside with their tankers. So, the task force moved in and they were able to intercept the tankers. They seized three fuel-laden boats and two empty others. They arrested a female suspected pipeline vandal. As they made to leave the area, other vandals opened fire on the task force and the policemen replied. At the end of the shootout, two of the policemen were seriously wounded and two were killed. Some witnesses sustained gunshot injuries too. I do not know whether any suspects were arrested from the scene.”A source, who spoke with the newspaper said that the injured officers had been rushed to the Igando General Hospital for treatment. He said,
“We cannot conclude that the two policemen are dead. Other officers, who were seriously wounded, have been rushed to the Igando General Hospital, and are receiving treatment presently. As we speak, there is a massive operation ongoing in the area as armed policemen have taken over everywhere. It was a major attack by the vandals on the task force."The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Emmanuel Ojukwu, confirmed a shootout in the area. He said, “Yes, there was a shooting incident in the area, which is being investigated by the police.”
