Jonathan deprived EFCC of funds –Lamorde

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, yesterday indicted the outgoing Jonathan administration, blaming it over the poor performance of the agency.
Speaking through the commission’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC boss, blamed its inability to tackle corruption on inadequate funding from the outgoing government.

According to Uwujaren, “we are happy that the incoming government is making the fight against corruption one of its cardinal objectives. Every Nigerian is happy about that. EFCC has been doing this for more than 11 years. We are proud of what the incoming administration wants to do.
“We need an administration that will look at what we are doing and empower us sufficiently to enable us make more impact than we have ever done in the past. We welcome the focus and we believe Nigeria needs to tackle this fight more rigorously for us to make the needed impact.”
Uwujaren proudly listed series of achievements recorded by the agency in over 10 years of its existence, claiming significant progress had been made in the prosecution of former governors.

He said assets that belonged to some of ex-governors had been seized, while money running into billions of dollars had been recovered on behalf of the Nigerian government.
“It is important to recall some of the milestones achieved by the commission in the investigation, prosecution and recovery of assets of politically exposed persons, including ex-governors,” Uwujaren noted.

He denied rumours that the EFCC was involvedin corruption in regards to seized assets and frozen accounts of suspects.

He said the disabled man was a Keke Napep driver and when they asked him what he had done, the man said the Road Safety men were asking him questions like where did he get the cartons he was carrying and also asked for his fire extinguisher amongst other questions he felt didn't make sense after he had already shown them his driver's license. So they asked for his key which he refused to give to them and they proceeded to assault him. See more photos after the cut...

Project for Human Development raises alarm over abortion plans by UNFPA

At a press conference in Lagos, Director- General of
a PRO-LIFE non-governmental organisation, The Project for Human Development, PHD, Jerry Okwuosa raised an alarm over alleged plans by the United Nations Population Funds, UNFPA, to reduce the Nigerian population by offering abortion services to pregnant women and girls recently rescued from Boko Haram by the Nigerian Armed Forces.

He condemned any attempt to subject the pregnant women and girls in the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, camps to a traumatic, violent-wrecking and life-threatening abortion process. Okwuosa who accused UNFPA of having hidden intentions which is to reduce the population of Nigeria said:
“We are aware that currently UNFPA is providing counselling to these Nigerians in the displacement camps in Borno State.

Also reproductive health kits and dignity kits have also been deployed in Borno and Adamawa states to support safe childbirth. These are laudable achievements but at a hidden cost he said.

“We are being told that all the visibly pregnant mothers in the IDP, camp must be aborted and others sterilised for fear that their babies will become Boko Haram terrorists, since some of them have been raped by the sect. UNFPA’s abortion and sterilisation services are geared towards depopulation,” he posited. “The UNFPA is an organisation whose primary interest is population control. In the developed countries of the world now in their demographic winter, UNFPA’s job is to promote population increase by all means.
He further stated that developed countries will do anything to increase their population because they are dying out.

Mr Sonnie Ekwuwusi, a director in the organization agreed with Okwuosa'ssentiments stating that the appointment of former Minister of Health, Professor Babatunde Osotimehin as Director General of UNFPA was aimed at making Nigerians and Africa as a whole buy into the idea of depopulation

Ekwuwusi however condemned any attempt to subject these pregnant women and girls in the IDPs to a traumatic, violent-wrecking and life-threatening abortion processes.
He recommended:
“The pregnant girls and women should be offered free ante- natal clinics and rehabilitation centres where they could go to safely give birth to their babies and afterwards they could give them out for legal adoption if for any reason they do not want to keep the babies,”.

Soldiers take over Capital Oil, load drums with fuel

CEO of Capital Oil, Ifeanyi Ubah made an announcement on Sunday that his company would release 13 million liters of fuel to help out with the fuel scarcity situation in the country since then officials of the Nigerian Army have taken over the Ojodu Berger outlet of Capital Oil, buying petroleum products in drums, after they had scared away thousands of prospective consumers.

The armed personnel came pretending to maintain peace and order, but they soon abandoned their primary responsibility and started buying fuel in drums.

They shoved, maltreated and chased off those who were on queue to tend to themselves.

The military officials who were fully dressed had taken over the only two pumps that dispensed the Premium Motor Spirit.

There was an unregistered white Isuzu truck the soldiers had been using for the ‘deal’ and this truck had visited the filling station for the fourth time and each time bought fuel.

The fourth truck was loaded at 8:50pm on Monday night.

The vehicle, on each visit, left with at least 14 drums and dozens of gallons filled with fuel.

Helpless consumers, some of who slept at the filling station, suspected the soldiers were buying fuel to sell to sell in Lagos black market.

Those who complained about what was going on were severely beaten

By 9pm on Monday, not more than a hundred cars left the station with fuel.

Inauguration: Nigerian students warn SA President Jacob Zuma to stay away from Nigeria

Nigerian students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students has warned South African President, Jacob Zuma, not to come to Nigeria for the inauguration of President-elect Buhari following what they described as his poor handling of the xenophobic attacks on some Africans including Nigerians in his country in April.

According to the student body, the failure of the South African President to apologize to Nigerians after the attacks is distasteful. The students expressed their anger in a statement signed by its President, Tijani Usman.

The statement in part reads
“We wish to advise the South African President (Jacob Zuma) to rather stay at home and address burning issues, rather than embarking on a visit that is the least desirable. The South African President’s failure to apologise to Nigeria for the losses the country and our citizens incurred during the xenophobic attacks on foreigners leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. There is therefore, no point felicitating with a people who clearly do not matter much to you. President Zuma’s visit will only amount to pretence.”

Photo of US marine and his bride praying before wedding goes viral

U.S. Marine Cpl. Caleb Earwood wanted a moment to pray with his bride-to-be Maggie before their wedding ceremony on Saturday. Now the photo of the couple holding hands in prayer has gone viral.

The ceremony was about to start in Asheville, N.C., when Caleb went to the cabin where Maggie was preparing for the wedding ceremony. The couple then joined their hands around a corner to not break the tradition of the groom seeing his bride before the altar.

"They hid me in a room and he stepped up on the stairwell and he stuck his hand out and I grabbed his hand," Maggie Earwood

Caleb prayed for the couple's marriage, asking that their union be strong enough to serve as an example for young couples, as Maggie held back tears.

"It broke me down," Maggie said, "to know that we felt the same way about God. It just made me happy."

The incredible moment was captured by wedding photographer Dwayne Schmidt, who later uploaded it to his Facebook page where it received an overwhelming positive response.

"Beautiful picture. It brought tears to my eyes. The bride is showing some raw emotion and love. You captured how affected she was by his words!!!!" wrote one Facebook commenter.

"This is a great way to start on a journey together," wrote another.

"So many people are emailing me," Schmidt said, "saying thank you for sharing this. It's what America is supposed to be about."

The couple is currently on honeymoon until they return to Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C., where Caleb is based.

NUPENG- Fuel scarcity will continue to be part of Nigeria’s socio-economic problem

National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG National President, Mr. Igwe Achese, at a briefing in Lagos, yesterday said fuel scarcity will continue to be part of Nigeria’s socio-economic problems if certain things are not fixed like if  the country’s refineries remain grounded, importation of petroleum products continues, subsidy persists, deregulation ignored and depot not rehabilitated.
Achese in his speech blamed the current scarcity of fuel on Lagos State government, who he said gave tanker drivers 24 hours, instead of the two weeks they asked for, to leave Oshodin-Apapa Expressway.
He said: “We are not on strike. It was just a withdrawal of services. I directed that the trucks stay away to avoid violence. “Even when the tankers were out of the roads, trailers took over which means it is not our problem.
“We work and pay our taxes in Lagos. It is unfortunate that they do not consider it good enough to create a corridor for us just as they did for Bus Rapid Transport, BRT.
“As long as government refuses to do the needful, fuel scarcity will continue to be part of this country.
“To stop it, our refineries must be put in order, railways working, the downstream sector deregulated, subsidy removed and depot rehabilitated.”

At Last, Chris Oyakhilome & Wife Reconcile as Alleged Mistress Threatens Fire and Brimstone

Please join me and read this gist according to National Enquirer magazine:
Though details are still sketchy, fillers emanating suggest that Chris Oyakhilome, Senior Pastor of the Christ Embassy Church may have finally come to his senses, ditched his bevy of ladies and  reconciled  with his wife, Anita Oyakhilome (Nee Ebodaghe).
In the height of their marital crisis, Anita had sought divorce based on what she described as her husband's inexplicable behaviour.
Investigation revealed that Chris over time had developed  a habit of surrounding himself with female church members, some of who lived with him in his Lagos home, popularly
referred to as « White House.»
Some of the ladies, particularly one Pastor Yemisi Kudehinbu, a pharmacy graduate of the University of Lagos  who is in her late forties played the role of his wife. Her closeness to Chris Oyakhilome dates back to the 90's, when she was a Pastor of the Christ Embassy Student Fellowship (Believers Love World).
As soon as Anita travelled to London over the failing health of one of their daughters, Yemisi moved in with Chris. She lived with him, cooked for him, bought his clothes, drove him around and travelled everywhere with him. However, she moved out anytime Anita was in Nigeria, but returned as soon as Anita travelled back to London.
Even after their daughter fully recovered from her ailment, Anita was not allowed to return to Nigeria, she was only allowed to visit during Church programmes, such as camp meeting e.t.c. Elder T. Oyakhilome, Chris Oyakhilome's father intervened several times, but his efforts were rebuffed by his son.
While Anita Oyakhilome was only allowed to visit her matrimonial home, Yemisi lived  and thrived there. Yemisi became so powerful within Christ Embassy that she could hire and fire, she began to override decisions by many senior pastors in the ministry including Anita.
Irked by this and many other development which we can't pen down, Anita Oyakhilome sought to be accorded more respect in her home and  the ministry she co-founded. When her request was rebuffed by her husband, Chris Oyakhilome, she quit her job as Pastor, stopped attending the Church and filed for divorce.
Chris Oyakhilome responded  with a televised broadcast, saying:
« A child of God must not divorce . » "My wife (Anita) is a bitter woman. I am not a preacher, I am a man of God, where was the wife of Peter or Paul mentioned in the Bible."
This assertion made many question to Chris Oyakhilome's understanding of the scriptures, because Paul, whom he cited his name, urged Christian men to deal with their wife with understanding. Paul called the wife joint- heir of the grace of life and that  if a  man does not treat his spouse right his prayer will be blocked.
In the heat of the crisis, Pastor Chris transferred his chief security officer, Pastor Pat, from Lagos to Benin for informing his (Chris) mother about his ordeal and suspended a female pastor who raised prayer request for his marriage.
Our checks reveal that Pastor Yemisi Kudehinbu, who lived with Chris Oyakhilome for more than 18 years playing wifey, had threatened to expose him, if he ever returned to his real wife (Anita). However, it remains to be seen if she will carry out her threat.

Also billed to jet out of the country after the swearing in are President Goodluck Jonathan, who had said he will take a much deserved rest, and Vice President Namani Sambo.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice-President on Media and Publicity, Umar Sani, dismissed insinuations that the VP may be traveling to evade Buhari’s prosecution.
“There is nothing to fear. Vice-President Namadi Sambo is not afraid of any persecution or victimisation by the incoming government. His planned trip has nothing to do with fear. If he is afraid of anything, he would have gone before May 29,” Sani said.
It was gather that Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Allison-Madueke, who has travelled out of the country already, is billed to return to attend the last Federal Executive Council meeting of Jonathan’s administration.
She is scheduled to travel back after the FEC meeting.
However, the Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, said no amount of road block could stop him from travelling to any country of his choice.
Shekarau also dared the incoming administration to proceed and mount a checkpoint for him in the crusade against corruption, adding that he had nothing to hide.
