Beyonce sued for $7m by former backup singer who claims she stole his song

A background singer named Ahmad Lane filed a federal lawsuit last year against Knowles, her music company Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records, accusing Beyonce of stealing his music for her hit song “XO.” He claimed that he worked as a background singer with Knowles’ current background singer Chrissy Collins for another artist. During his time working with Collins he had given her a copy of his song “XOXO” to listen to and infers that she passed it along to Knowles.

Well, on June 4, 2015, Knowles fired back at the background singer’s lawsuit claiming his complaint is a “vague and cryptic.”

She explains that she is a internationally known singer who has won 17 Grammys and sold over 118 million albums
“The two works at issue are entirely different songs that share no lyrical or musical similarity, other than perhaps the letters “X” and “O.” The documents also state that Lane never filed a “copyright registration” for his song.
Ahmad Lane
The documents claims that Lane’s description of the copyright infringement is due to the fact that Knowles’ song “allegedly copies the first four bars of an eight bar melody that is looped,” and “contains a four note sequence that is similar to the four note sequence,” in her song.

Knowles’ attorney writes asking the court to listen to the man’s song and compare it to hers and states that if anyone was to listen to both they would find the two works don’t share any, “melodic content and there is no meaningful similarity in pitch series, rhythm or rhythmic patterns, melodic development or structure”

Also, Knowles’ attorney states, “the two songs are distinct from a thematic perspective” with the man’s song describing the narrator’s romantic and sexual feelings towards a new lover. His song features lyrics talking about “being horny” and “wanting to love every inch of the lover’s body,” while her song is a “celebration of love and life, emphasizing the importance of living in the present with a loved one ‘before our time has run out.’”

Knowles is asking the court to dismiss the $7 million dollar lawsuit and that the background singer be awarded nothing because her song was officially co-written and co-produced by Ryan Tedder, Terius 'The Dream' Nash, and Beyonce.

French Police detain Six-year-old girl for three days at airport

Paris airport police held a 6-year-old French girl for three days on suspicion she had a fake passport until a judge ordered her released into her mother’s arms, a lawyer said.

Authorities insist that police were just doing their jobs to protect children from trafficking, but the case has caused indignation in France amid sensitive debate over police treatment of waves of undocumented migrants coming to Europe in recent months.

The girl was detained Saturday at Charles de Gaulle airport, after arriving from Cameroon, said lawyer Sidonie Leoue. The girl was traveling as an unaccompanied minor carrying all necessary documents, and her mother was waiting at the Paris airport to greet her, Leoue said.

Police thought the girl’s passport photo didn’t resemble her, and suspected a fake, according to the lawyer and the French Interior Ministry.

The Paris-born girl was held in a special police day care for three days before she appeared before a judge, who asked the girl to identify her mother, seated across the courtroom, the lawyer said. The girl also was shown photos of a teacher and classmates from a school she had attended in France, and was asked to identify them, which she did.

“The judge said it was all a mistake” and ordered the girl’s release, Leoue said. “It’s inadmissible that minors are held there like this, especially for a reason such as this.”

“Verifying the identity of a child, establishing with certainty the link between the (child) and the person traveling with them or waiting for them at the airport, is about protecting the child against trafficking, kidnapping,” he said. He said minors are held in a special nursery at the airport run by Red Cross staff “to make their stay as calm as possible.”
However, amid anger over the girl’s case, he said the ministry issued guidance Friday urging border police to handle such cases very quickly to avoid delays.
Pierre Henry, head of migrants’ rights group France Terre d’Asile, said the case and another reported in French media Friday about a 3-year-old girl from Ivory Coast who was also detained at the airport, were “abhorrent” and reflected the “state of thinking” and suspicion surrounding migrants.

“It is an incident that should be condemned, and should lead to reflection,” said Henry. He warned against generalities, however, and acknowledged that airport police have made marked improvements in the handling of underage illegal migrants in recent years.
The girl was not identified because she is a minor. Her mother, speaking on Europe-1 radio, said her daughter “cried a lot” after the incident.

“She doesn’t stop talking about it,” said the mother, who was identified only by her first name Isabelle to protect her daughter’s identity.
“She asks each time ‘but why are they talking about me? Why did they do this to me?'”

Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said police are still analyzing whether the passport is valid and confiscated it pending further investigation.

Chris Brown reportedly spending money on baby mama so he could have more time with his daughter

This is according to a story by Hollywood Life. Read below...
Chris has been super nice to Nia - he even sent her a thoughtful and very heartfelt card for her birthday on June 6. Inside, he wrote that she’s a beautiful and wonderful mother to Royalty. He told her he couldn’t be happier that she’s Royalty’s mother. Chris even did the unthinkable — he included a check for $5,000.00 in the card. He wanted to prove to Nia that he’s not stingy when it comes to money and that he will take care of his family by all means necessary,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com
At this time, Chris gets Royalty “ever other week,” but in the future, he’s hoping to get more time with her. And he even wants to “do a little more play dates with the young Hollywood kids,” Chris recently told Ryan Seacrest. Perhaps that $5,000 will help persuade Nia to give Chris more time with Royalty.

After failing to kill mother, man commits suicide by setting family house ablaze(Photo)

A 25-year-old school drop-out and drug addict, Tobechukwu Ogbonna, has committed suicide in the family house after setting it on fire.
Ogbonna is believed to have done so in frustration because he failed to kill his mother and elder brother. He also chopped off the head of the family pet dog which was barking at him while the fracas between him, his mother and brother lasted.

Prior to razing the house, Ogbonna was said to have attacked his mother with a machete after having an altercation with her. He dealt machete cuts on her head and other parts of the body. But her loud scream for help drew the attention of neighbours, who broke the passage door and rushed in to rescue her from the deadly grip of the evil son.

While she was being taken to the Federal Medical Centre for treatment, Ogbonna attacked his elder brother too with the same machete fully intent on killing him. Fortunately, the brother was able to escape by scaling over the fence.

Feeling disappointed that he failed to take the lives of the two people that made him angry, he rushed back to where the family dog was chained somewhere in the compound and barking, clearlyagitated by the fracas going on around it. In one swoop, he chopped off the head of the dog for daring to bark at him while he was on his deadly mission.
For long, Ogbonna, who was known in the neighbourhood by the sobriquet mbe (an Igbo name for tortoise) had been a thorn in the flesh of residents. Ogbonna dropped out of Williams Secondary School, Afugiri, Umuahia, when his stubbornness could no longer be tolerated by the school.
Sunday Sun gathered that his late mother was always going to the school to plead on his behalf each time the principal, Mr Isiguzo sent him away for bad behavior.

Angered that he had failed in his mission of wiping out the family, he locked the passage door. , While the people that reported the matter to the police station and the policemen that came with them waited outside for him to come out and be arrested, they soon noticed thick smoke rise up from the building.
Within minutes, fire had taken over the entire building. Promptly a distress call was made by a neighbour to the men of fire service who came quickly to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjoining buildings.

A tenant in the compound, Joseph Mark, who witnessed the incident told Sunday Sun that it occurred around eleven in the night.
“It was during the argument he had with his mother that the young man dealt several machete blows on her. As if that was not enough, Mbe, ran back into the building and attempted to attack his elder brother who quickly escaped by scaling the fence of the building,” Mark said.
“It was at that point that he locked himself inside the building and within seconds, thick smoke started coming out and before we knew what happened, fire had covered the roof and other parts of the building.”
Another eyewitness, Mr Abdulfatai Oyadele said that the victim was a suspected drug addict, who had been terrorizing the family and people in the area.
“Yes, he has been a terror to the people of this street and beyond”, Oyadele said

Some of the girls told police that Onoh took care of them on the agreement that he would take the babies upon delivery.

She said her parents wanted to marry her off to an old man because of the ‘unwanted’ pregnancy.

Another girl, Happiness Mbaonu, said she was impregnated by an unknown man who took her home when she was stranded at Holy Ghost Park in Enugu.

Gunmen abduct Winners Pastor during prayer session

Seyi Adekunle of Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel was on Saturday evening abducted by gunmen who invaded the church while he and other pastors were having prayer session in the church in preparation for Sunday services.

The gunmen numbering five were said to have stormed the church at about 7.50 pm when the pastors were praying in the main auditorium of the church and shot sporadically into the air before grabbing the pastor and bundling him into their car and drove off.
“Normally on Saturdays, we have a number of activities but the pastors prayer session comes last, it was while the session was in progress that the boys came in, shot into the air and took our pastor away”. A source in the church told Vanguard.
Pastor Seyi who is the head pastor of Province Two of the Church located along IBB Way, opposite the Margaret Ekpo International Airport according to our source has been in charge of the church since 2014 and has been carrying out massive construction work in the crouch.

‘He came here in 2014 and has been doing a lot work through the construction of a massive complex for the church auditorium and office accommodation which might have given the kidnappers the impression that he has money to give them as ransom”.

When Vanguard visited the church at about 1.00 pm on Sunday afternoon, the second service in the church was in progress handled by Pastor Seyi’s assistants and there was police presence outside inside the hall and in the premises.

“There was no policeman on duty here yesterday when the incident happened but this morning we had to request for some policemen from the Airport Police Station close by and these six policemen you see here were deployed to forestall any recurrence of what took place last night”

Mr Hogan Bassey, the spokesman of the Cross River State Police Command says the kidnappers are yet to make any demands “but we are closing on them and very soon I shall inform you on how far we have gone” he said

South Africa bans Sudan President from leaving..

A South African court on Sunday issued a temporary ban on Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir leaving the country after the International Criminal Court called for him to be arrested at a summit in Johannesburg.

Bashir, who is wanted over alleged war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in the Darfur conflict, mostly travels to countries that have not joined the ICC, but South Africa is a signatory of the court's statutes.

The Pretoria High Court said in a statement it was "compelling respondents to prevent President Omar Al-Bashir from the leaving the country until an order is made in this court".

The hearing is set to take place later Sunday, the opening day of the African Union summit.

The ruling came after the Southern African Litigation Centre, a legal rights group, launched an urgent court application to force the authorities to arrest Bashir.Bashir joined a group photograph of leaders at the summit despite the calls for his arrest.
More than 300,000 people have been killed in the conflict and fighting has forced some 2.5 million people to flee their homes, the United Nations says.

Khartoum, however, disputes the figures, estimating the death toll at no more than 10,000.
"Allowing President al-Bashir into South Africa without arresting him would be a major stain on South Africa's reputation for promoting justice for grave crimes," said Elise Keppler of Human Rights Watch.
"South Africa's legal obligations as an ICC member mean cooperating in al-Bashir's arrest, not in his travel plans."

GEJ’s Kinsman is Saying He Conceded Defeat to Hide Atrocities

jona1
Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bayelsa State chapter, Mr. Godwin Sidi, claims former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan conceded defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari to cover up all the atrocities of his admonistration…

Sidi, said those hailing Jonathan for placing a telephone call on Buhari while collation was ongoing, had no reason to do so, as GEJ had no other choice but to concede defeat…
He said:
“Jonathan’s conceding defeat is a ploy to cover up political atrocities he committed while in office”
Sidi added that Jonathan took possession of property seized from a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieseigha, after he was impeached in 2005 by the state House of Assembly and convicted for money laundering.
He said:
“Jonathan was instrumental to the removal of Alamieseigha and prior to his removal, I remembered vividly that a friend of Alamieseigha bought him 5-series BMW car salon. Jonathan took that vehicle to Aso Rock.
“The vehicle is still in his possession. I want him to return that vehicle. Property, the one l know for now,
there are other ones l am trying to investigate, of DSP in Maitama was given to Jonathan’s associate.
“I am giving them 72 hours to return the house to DSP as we prepare our papers to approach the court. The National Assembly should invite the President to give account of the Chibok girls because he was the Chief Security Officer at the time the girls were kidnapped.
“We are going to file our case at the ICJ over the Chibok girls. I am calling on the Code of Conduct Bureau to make Jonathan’s asset declaration public.”
What do you think???
