Phone conversation between Toke Makinwa and Encomium reporter on troubled marriage

Throughout last week, the internet was agog with the news of Toke Makinwa’s husband, Maje Ayida with the news of not only impregnating his ex-girlfriend, Anita Solomon but also the fact that the said Anita had gone abroad to deliver the baby.
When ENCOMIUM Weekly called Mrs. Toke Makinwa-Ayida on Monday, June 22, 2015, this was what she said:

Toke: Hello
Toke Makinwa
ENCOMIUM Weekly: Good morning….
Toke: Okay, what can I do for you?
ENCOMIUM Weekly: Am I speaking with Mrs. Toke Makinwa-Ayida?
Toke: Yes, you are. What can I do for you?
ENCOMIUM Weekly: You probably know why I am calling you. It is about the story of your (she didn’t allow us to finish the statement).
Toke: (cuts in) I don’t have any comment, I don’t have any comment.
Mrs. Toke Makinwa-Ayida has probably gotten over the shock and trauma the news of her husband’s rumoured infidelity must have caused her, because when we called her the previous week (on Monday, June 15, 2015), she didn’t wait for us to ask any question. The moment she heard from ENCOMIUM Weekly, she switched off.
Toke’s comment on her Vlog on youtube on Thursday, June 18 indicates that she has come to live with the reality of her situation in her marital life.

In her words on the Vlog she said, “This has been a very, very, very crazy week. The purpose is not really about me. I am not one who enjoys talking about myself…I just want to talk about other issues.”
Her topic for the day was also suspicious. It was about those going through crises in their relationships.

She went on to advise women to stop taking blames for the misdemeanour of their spouses or boyfriends. She also admonished people generally for being judgmental and blaming women for the atrocities committed by their husbands or boyfriends.

She cited the ease of a woman that wrote her that she was blamed that her husband impregnated her cousin.
“How dare you blame her?”
“Was she the one that put his thing into her private part?” She also admonished women to stop living in self denial.
According to her, “A lot of people need to stop living in denial. The first thing you need to do is to accept the situation.
“It is not about you, stop blaming yourself.”
She went on to advice women in relationships to take the situation in their strides and move on.
In her words, “The sun will definitely shine again because it will always do. For every whao, there is a bigger whao. For every fish, there is a bigger fish. For every scandal, there is a bigger scandal.”
She finally stretched her hand to all women in relationship crisis as a hand of fellowship-meaning we are in it together.
One thing that was conspicuous on the Vlog is the missing marriage picture of Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida.
Maje and Anita
Maje and Anita
Toke Makinwa and Maje Ayida get married in January 2014 after their off and on relationship that spans 12 years.
Anita Solomon, the woman that is alleged to be pregnant for Maje Ayida, is also said to have been in relationship with him for eight years.
In fact, someone wrote this on the blogs on internet, “Toke can lie for Africa. Before I write my own, let me say Maje Ayida is a woman wrapper from time!!! Whether Toke stays at home or is a career woman, he was going to cheat no matter what!!! But Toke, was Anita a stalker? Was Erica a stalker?
“Were you not the side chick when he was formally dating those ladies? Who chased them away from Maje so there would be space for you? Was it not you and your Bacchus friends? Sending them anonymous emails, text messages and phone calls?
“Harassing them in clubs, spilling drinks on them, all sorts of childish things to let them know you were in side chick then? Na lie?
“Maje was dating Anita, you (Toke) was seeing him on the side in those days of Bacchus, same with Erica Coswoth. Did you really think after you managed to chase them that you will have peace in that marriage?
“He cheated on them with you. So, of course, he will cheat on you too.
“Karma is a bitch. Anyway, as for Maje, yes, we all know you didn’t really want to marry Toke. I mean, even up a few days to your wedding, you were asking your friends if you should marry her…(smh)! But nobody forced you to go to the registration office without your family’s consent. So as you make your bed you must lie on it and make it work out with Toke.
“Anita, I wish you safe delivery because your baby is innocent in all of this. I know Toke made your life a living hell while you and Maje were dating.
“Maje, go and settle with your wife. Make it up with her. Toke, it is well after all you got what you wanted nah – Mrs. Ayida.
“But sarcasm aside, keep your head up. This will soon be stake gist. But you Toke Makinwa knew, he will always love Anita. So, if you are wise cut your lesses now.”

Buhari Appoints Woman As Replacement for Jega; Meet Her

Prof. Attahiru Jega on Tuesday bowed out of office as the Chairman of INEC. Consequently, the president, Muhammadu Buhari, has appointed Mrs. Amina Bala Zakari, as acting chairman of the body.

Mrs. Zakari, the first female to occupy the position albeit in an acting capacity, was until Tuesday, a National Electoral Commissioner at INEC.

A statement issued by the Director Communications in the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Haruna Imrana, on behalf of the HoS, Mr. Danladi Kifasi, confirmed the appointment.

Kifasi said Zakari’s appointment was with immediate effect.

She would be in office from June 30, 2015, until the appointment of a substantive chairman.
Jega was appointed the chairman of the commission by President Goodluck Jonathan on June 30, 2010. He conducted two elections in 2011 and 2015.

Speaking briefly at the end of the closed-door handing over ceremony at the commission in Abuja, Jega said the future of the country and commission was bright.

He said he was grateful to God and the country for the opportunity to serve.

Prof. Jega said, “We feel great; we thank God Almighty for the opportunity to serve the country. The future is bright for the commission and the country. In whatever we have achieved, we should keep it up and do more.”

Okonjo-Iweala Replies Oshiomhole, Buhari's Government

Immediate past Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy & Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, yesterday described as “false and malicious,” the allegation by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, that she spent $2.1 billion from the Excess Crude Account, ECA, without authorization.

Speaking through her Media Adviser, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, in Abuja, the ex-minister said that there was no unauthorized expenditure from the ECA under her watch in the Finance Ministry.
According to her, decisions on withdrawals from the ECA were discussed at monthly meetings of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC, attended by Finance Commissioners from the 36 states.

It will be recalled that after the National Economic Council meeting on Monday, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State told newsmen that “Dr Okonjo-Iweala reported by November 2014 that we had $4.1bn. Today, the Accountant-General’s office reported that we have $2.0bn which means the minister spent $2.1bn without authority of the NEC and that money was not distributed to states, it was not paid to the three tiers of government”. The ‘unauthorized’ spending, according to the economic council is among the anomalies discovered in the management of the nation’s economy between 2012 and May 2015.
Denying the allegation however, Dr Okonjo-Iweala said: “It is curious that in their desperation to use the esteemed National Economic Council for political and personal vendetta, the persons behind these allegations acted as if the constitutionally-recognized FAAC, a potent expression of Nigeria’s fiscal federalism, does not exist.

“But Nigerians know that collective revenues, allocations and expenditures of the three tiers of government are the concern of the monthly FAAC meetings,” the minister said.

They failed before, they will fail again — Okonjo-Iweala
She added that Governor Oshiomhole and some others like him, had made futile efforts at rubbishing her in the past and that the current effort would fail like the ones before it.

According to her, “it is clear that this is the latest chapter of a political witch-hunt by elements who are attempting to use the respected National Economic Council for ignoble purposes having failed abysmally in their previous attempts to tar the Okonjo-Iweala name.

“It will be recalled that one of such attempts took place in May when some of these governors, hiding under the auspices of the Nigerian Governors Forum, asked Okonjo-Iweala to explain $20 billion alleged to be missing from the same ECA.

“The Finance Ministry subsequently issued a news release and published an advertorial in national newspapers on May 25, 2015, giving details of what the Federal Government and states received from the ECA in the last four years. It also provided details of the use of the funds for payment of petrol subsidies for the Nigerian public and SURE-P allocations to the three tiers for development purposes.

“After the publication, the accusers lost their voice. But the latest allegations show that these persons are still in the business of throwing up wild, unsubstantiated figures to damage Okonjo-Iweala’s name. For instance, within the last few months, Governor Oshiomhole and his fellow travelers have asked Okonjo-Iweala to account for “missing” $30 billion, $20 billion and now $2.1 billion. What they don’t seem to understand is that the strategy has lost all credibility because the falsehood is clear for all to see,” she said.

She wondered how some governors who fought the Federal Government’s efforts to leave robust savings in the ECA and even took the Federal Government to court over the matter now turn around to make such unfounded allegations. She also acknowledged the efforts of governors who are working hard to overcome the current revenue challenges facing their states without resorting to character assassination and blame games.

The former minister also said she pioneered the practice of publishing monthly updates of all allocations to different tiers of government in order to empower Nigerians with information and knowledge of government revenues and expenditure.

“This enabled the Nigerian public to ask questions about the utilization of these resources. Of course many elected and appointed public officials were not happy with this development”, she claimed.

Publishing government revenues and expenditure, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, said, continued till the end of the Goodluck Jonathan administration as well as periodic updates on the Excess Crude Account, subsidy payments for verified claims by oil marketers for fuel imports and SURE-P payments to the three tiers of government.

She insisted that the idea that she spent $2.1 billion without authorization “is simply not credible given that details of government receipts and expenditure are public knowledge”.

Oshiomhole throws fresh challenge
Following Dr Okonjo-Iweala’s denial, Governor Oshiomhole has therefore challenged her to publish letter of authority as to how six billion dollars of excess crude taxes from the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas and other funds were transferred to the consolidated Federal funds. Stating that all the information released to the public by the National Economic Council was obtained from the Accountant-General’s office, Governor Oshiomhole declared that his committee is inviting the former minister to tell Nigerians how excess crude funds and other allocations were disbursed in the last four years.

He said : “She should publish the letter or instrument of authority as to how the excess crude fund and fund from other sources such as NIMASA and about $6bn paid as taxes from NLNG as well as the remittance for four years were paid but not transferred to the consolidated federal funds.

“The funds belong to the three tiers of government and she should produce monthly statements of accruals and the distributions. Authorization of funds are not verbal matters, there must be approvals and that is what we are asking for.

“My committee will invite her and allow her ample opportunity to reply to each of the charges against her office and NNPC as coordinating minister. She will also be required to justify billions of naira and dollars she granted as waivers, that should have flowed into the federation’s consolidated revenue fund.

“There is no hiding place now. Everyone must now answer his/her father’s name. Bold face will not suffice. She will be invited to exercise her right to fair hearing.”

Isis beheads two women in Syria for witchcraft

Islamic State beheaded two women over the weekend accused of witchcraft and working with elves in eastern Syria

The 2 women have become the first to be beheaded by Isis after being accused of witchcraft, sorcery and working with elves by the Islamic extremist group, according to reports emerging from eastern Syria.

The executions, for a supposed breach of sharia law, were carried out on Sunday and Monday respectively, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group based in Britain, said.

In separate executions, both women were put to death alongside their husbands in Deir ez-Zour province - the first in Deir ez-Zour city on Sunday, the second in Mayadin on Monday after being accused of using un-Islamic medicine by the extremist group.

The group says that this would be the first time the self-styled caliphate has killed women in this way.

Previous executions of women have involved stoning or firing squads, mostly for adultery.

The SOHR said this week in an audit of the year since the declaration of the ‘caliphate’ that Isis had executed 3,000 people in the past 12 months, 1,800 of them civilians, 86 of them women and 74 of them children.

Robberies in traffic on Lagos roads - woman tells her story (photos)

This is also an appeal to the appropriate agencies in Lagos and other states. Curb the menace of traffic robbery now before these robbers start killing people. Talent manager Isioma Osaje shares her experience below.
'I want to give my testimony. At 11:30pm two sets of people attempted to rob me in traffic. I had just gotten off the phone with my mum to say I was in standstill traffic. When the first set of two guys yelled at me from outside my window to wind down. Unknown to me she immediately said a prayer for my safe return. I remember hearing that your best escape was to honk your horn repeatedly. I put my hand on the horn and didn't let go. And I called God in my mind to help me. Immediately I saw an opening in the next lane and swerved in, still pressing my horn. They fled.
5 minutes later three guys came to the drivers side window. Pointing torches into my car. Same instructions. Wind down give us something. Next thing I see something swing and my window shatters. At that very minute another space opens on the next lane and I swerve in while honking. They fled.
Many would say I was almost robbed, I say I was saved. Thank you God for your mercies.

13 Shocking Reasons Why Married Women Cheat

About 75% of divorces stem from cheating, either from the woman or the man. Men have been accused more of cheating than women, but you will be surprised to know even women cheat more these days and here are the reasons why.

1. Complacency

When you were together before marriage, you were probably miles apart and so seeing each other always appears fresh, but now you’re married and you wake up in each others faces. You always see each other and so couples don’t mind or pay attention to what the other does. Sometimes things that would have made you rush out to help her aren’t there anymore. When this continues for long, the bliss in the love reduces and women will want to find it elsewhere.

2. Lacking The Fear of God (Very Dangerous)

When a woman is prayer-less, goes to church only on Sundays and does not have the consciousness of God in her, any thing can happen. Majority of women who are able to remain faithful despite the challenges or temptations do so not because they feel their man deserves their faithfulness but purely because they do not want to offend God. A spirit filled born again woman who fears God understands that cheating on her husband is not just a sin against man but a sin against God. Being born again drags you to church services , midweek prayer and constant reading of the bible. These small thing may seem common but the constant awareness of the divine has reportedly kept the sanity of many marriages.

3. Not Helping Her Out

Before marriage, she probably had sisters who were taking care of certain things for her, but after she got married, she has had to do everything on her own, coupled with taking care of a baby, so from time to time, she expects the man to help with the chores but if she is ignored for long and she’s overwhelmed by the workload, she’s likely to cheat with a man who will help her out. Yes it sound simple but women are complicated. A woman who misses some simple things in a husband will unintentionally begin to crave that particular trait and once she sees it in another man, She begins to compare and contrast. She begins to appreciate the vacuum more and if she does not watch it, She will only come to her senses when the other man mounts her cums.

4. Not Having Enough Relationship/Sex Experience Before Marriage

A woman who has been around the block will find nothing spectacular about the next in line cock. She has seen her fair share and has realised that their is nothing left to explore. It doesn't really make much difference to sexual happiness whether you are an experienced lover or not. But there is such pressure to gain sexual experience that those who don't tend to wonder what sex would be like with someone else. Virgins are more prone to feeling the grass is always greener on the other side when they do have relationships. And, if their partner is sexually experienced, they're vulnerable to jealousy. 'They may feel they have to live up to their partner's previous lovers. This leads to the feeling they're always being compared and found wanting, which can make for much unhappiness. What's more important is to have had a wide range of life experiences before you commit to someone, rather than a wide range of sexual experiences.

5. Financial Situations

Women just don’t know how to survive without money and they find it difficult if they are unable to buy some basic things such as panties, bra, make-up kit, dresses etc. and usually with marriage, some of these things come to a halt or are reduced. She doesn’t get the opportunity to go shopping and all that and before you know it, she’s cheating with a man who can satisfy those needs.

6. Limited Expectations

Before marriage, women actually fantasize about marriage being rosy, like a fairy tale ending where they lived happily ever after, thinking the man will be so romantic after marriage, will lift them up every morning when they are pregnant. They actually daydream about this and when they finally get married, they realize it was indeed as it was, a fairy tale.

Reality strikes and they realize, it’s nowhere near their imagination and before they know it, they are looking for it elsewhere.

7. Intimacy

With time, couples become distant due to children, jobs and economic pressure, meanwhile, women love the intimacy and privacy you share together. When it’s not forthcoming, she’s likely to get someone who will provide her with that.

8. Sensitivity

Women are actually a bundle of sensitive “creatures” and whatever you do or say to them can have an adverse effect on them for ages. Shouting at her or ridiculing her in an unpleasant manner is likely to make her want to find solace elsewhere and by now you know what she’s likely to do.

Also if she finds a man who understands her sensitivity and surprises her all the time, she’s likely to fall for it.

9. Revenge

If you’ve ever cheated on a stupid woman and she caught you, then prepare for payback. Being cheated on is a very difficult act to forgive. For those of you who have been cheated on, you know how awful it feels. You feel deceived, hurt, angry, sad, numb and even violated. It also affects your self-esteem. At the moment you find out your man cheated, your whole body begins to shake, you begin to sweat, your stomach drops, and you feel nauseated. Clearly, it negatively affects your relationship, your mood, behavior, and your ability to trust the cheater ever again. When you have been cheated on, some of you may want to get revenge by making them feel the way you felt. This can lead you, to do the cheating next. The biggest truth is that cheating never solves a relationship problem. Communication, assertiveness and increasing passion and romance in your relationship are a much better solution.

10. Sex

When the sex gets boring and no more thrilling as it used to be, she’s likely to go find someone who makes her feel good. Women need to feel desired and experience REAL orgasms during sex. If women are getting bad sex, not enough sex, non-emotional sex, or "wham-bam-thank-you-mam" sex, you may eventually lose interest in the relationship and look elsewhere for GOOD sex! This creates a temptation to seek sexual or emotional satisfaction elsewhere. In my opinion, it's best to communicate your needs to your man with the hopes that he will step it up a notch. You can do this on your own or with the help of a sex therapist.

11. Weight loss/plastic surgery:

Male attention increases quickly after a boob job, a butt implant or weight loss, and so does your self-confidence. With all this male attention, your temptation to cheat rises, and it takes more self-control to resist some of those male offers. Once you realize other guys want you, your desire to act on it may have you feeling euphoric. However, be careful, act wisely and make your pros and cons list.

12. Financial independence:

When you feel financially dependent on your husband or boyfriend, it's more difficult to speak up in arguments or leave the relationship. The fear of being alone and financially unstable keeps you in a one-down position. Now that women make their own money, enjoy working, and are good at it, the need to stay in an unhappy relationship is not necessary. That feeling of power and independence can be like seeing the red carpet laid out for you; all the way to those other fish in the sea.

13.  Low self-esteem:

This is the most dangerous. Run if you see this trait in a woman. When you feel insecure about yourself, you have a need to seek validation from others. This can be in the form of sexual, emotional, or intellectual attention. When you don't love or value yourself, you may project that onto the person you are in a relationship with, and believe they don't love or value you. Even if your husband or boyfriend loves you greatly, you still may cheat because you find it hard to accept their unconditional love.

Saraki Replies APC Leader, Speaker Dogara Fires Too

The Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Reps, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, on Monday described as baseless a statement by the former All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, that their elections on June 9 were sponsored by oil barons.

Saraki and Dogara gave their reaction in separate statements in Abuja on Monday.

Akande, in a widely publicised statement on Sunday, had alleged that oil barons who never liked President Muhammadu Buhari`s anti-corruption stance, sponsored the elections of Saraki and Dogara in a bid to stifle the new government.

Akande also alleged that some splinter groups within the APC were aligning with old and new PDP forces to launch a platform for the 2019 polls.

Dogara, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Turaki Hassan, challenged Akande to name the oil barons.
The speaker said he expected Akande, an elder statesman, to play his fatherly role at a period of disputes within the APC’s family by seeking ways to reconcile the factions, rather than attacking his person.

Dogara said that the allegations existed only in Akande’s “imagination”, adding that he won his election based on the support of his colleagues, his competence and capacity to preside over the House as the Speaker.

The speaker recalled that the first investigative motion passed by the House after his election was to probe the alleged crude oil swap contracts awarded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

He noted that it did not make sense for him to back the probe of the same oil sector’s stakeholders Akande alleged to have sponsored his election.

Also, the Special Assistant to the Senate President on Print Media, Chuks Okocha, described the allegations as mischievous and totally false.

Okocha, in a statement in Abuja on Monday, said Akande’s claim gave a negative and dirty impression that the emergence of the senate president was aimed at sabotaging the anti-corruption posture of Buhari’s government and the ‘Change agenda’ of the APC.

He said, “Ordinarily, we would have ignored the report, but for the sole reason that some undiscerning readers might mistake the fiction for the facts.

“We also wish to state unequivocally that it was wrong and mischievous for the statement by Chief Akande to link what happened on the floor of both chambers to some unnamed oil barons.

“We dare say that the entire story was the figment of the imagination of the author.”
