Photos of Barack Obama in Kenya in 1988, 1992, 2006
On his second trip in 1992, he traveled with Michelle, who was his fiancee at the time. They married a few months after that visit. He wanted Michelle to meet his paternal grandmother & other extended family members.
He then visited in 2006 as a US senator. He moved around relatively freely and visited his father’s grave and his grandmother’s tin-roof house. Two years later, he became the president of the United States of America. (he's pictured with his grandmother above). More photos after the cut...

Timaya denies rape, says US-based accuser is blackmailing him
He said the girl, who he has been talking to for about a year, contacted him when she found out he was in the US for his tour and bugged him to see him. He told her where he was and she came to see him. He said from the minute she entered the room, she started filming him.
He said after they finished having sex, the girl continued filming him and began asking him questions. He said she asked him if he enjoyed the sex and he said yes, then she asked him if she could follow him to his show and he said no that he's working...but that she could come later and he would tell his people to let her in. She then told him that they didn't use a condom, what if she gets pregnant? Timaya said he told her that he didn't want another baby, that he just got a baby.
Timaya said she continued asking him questions until he became very suspicious and dragged her phone from her. That was when he realized that the girl had been filming him the whole time. He said he deleted the photos/video recordings and asked her what her intentions/plans were? He gave her back her phone and then realized that for Iphones, you have to delete twice before it will be completely wiped off. He then asked her for the phone and she refused to give it to him so he called hotel security.
The hotel security came to the room and asked the lady why she was filming Timaya and she said it was nothing serious, just for fun. Timaya asked the hotel security to remove the girl from his room but only after the lady has deleted the video recordings. The hotel security advised Timaya to let the girl go, that if she calls the police and tells them he's holding her hostage, it's a crime in the US. That was how he let her go. Timaya said at no point did she tell security that she had been raped when he called security on her.
And after she left, she began calling to threaten him, saying she would mess him up and ruin his career for taking things far and calling security on her.
He said she called him again demanding for money to take herself to the hospital. He said he left money by the reception for her and she came to collect it. Then she called again to harass him. When she continued harassing and threatening him, he began begging her because she'd already called someone in Nigeria that he was close to accusing him of rape. She told the dude that for her to keep quiet, Timaya has to pay her $50,000 or she will publish their recordings. He said he was begging her to stop the blackmail and not because of any rape.
He said when the girl refused to stop, he changed his US number, blocked her on Whatsapp, and instagram so she could no longer reach him for bargain and that was when she created the account on instagram to carry out her threat.

Kenya rejects US gay rights agenda, what Obama said about it today
"The US believes in the principle of treating people equally under the law and that they are deserving of equal protection under the law.and that the state should not discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation and I say that recognizing that there may be people that have different religious or cultural beliefs but the issue is how does the state operate relative to people. You can look at the history of people around the world. When you start treating people differently not because of the harm they are doing to anybody but because they are different, that's the path whereby freedom is beginning to erode.
If somebody is a law abiding citizen who is going about their business and not breaking any law and obeying the traffic signs and doing all the things good citizens are supposed to do and not harming anybody, the idea they are treated differently based on who they love is wrong. Full stop."he said
Below is Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta's response on the issue
"The fact of the matter is Kenya and US share so many values, democracy, entrepreneurship, family values. These are things we share but there are some things we do not share. Our culture our societies don't accept. Its very difficult for us to be able to impose on people that which they themselves do not accept. This is why I repeatedly say that for Kenyans today, the issue of gayrights is really a non issue. We want to focus on other areas that are day to day living for our people. Our health issues as we have discussed with president Obama. These are critical. Issues of inclusivity of women, a key section of society that is normally left out of the mainstream of economic development. What we can do in terms of infrastructure, Education, Roads, Power and Entrepreneurship. Maybe once like you have overcome some of these challenges we can begin to look at new once but the fact remains that this issue is not one that is in the foremost minds of Kenyans and that is the fact"he said

Benue State University student allegedly commits suicide after he was withdrawn from medical school after spending 10yrs
According to Benue.com, after the student died, medical students of the school took his coffin and deposited it at the office of the vice chancellor in protest, blaming the school's action for his death. See the photos after the cut...
Idoko was withdrawn for failing a haphazardly organised resit exam that has bedevilled medical students in the institution over the years.
Speaking under anonymity in a telephone conversation, one of the students said they believe that Idoko took his own life because he couldn’t bear the news that his 10 years in medical was in vain.
“He had been talking about it, that he wish he died a painless death. The school have finished him. There is no where in the world that a medical student is withdrawn after spending 10 years.” He said.
Coffin at the VC's office |
After spending 12 years without graduation, that many of the students in the medical school have become disillusioned, frustrated, depressed and some have attempted suicide due to the stagnation and irregularities but the school management was continuously adamant about the psychological effects of their long stay in medical school.
The students, after an altercation at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital mortuary, obtained the coffin of their dead colleague, marched to the VC’s office, vowing not to leave until their grievances which bother around the haphazard conduct of exams, manipulation of results, withdrawals and accreditation, are resolved.
The students this morning, blocked the Gboko-Makurdi Highway causing a congestion of traffic. They also burned tyres, carrying placards demanding that their Vice Chancellor address them. They accused the VC and provost of paying a deaf ear to the predicaments of the medical students in the school over the years.

Why I can’t pay workers salaries - Rauf Aregbesola
"I have found it hard to pay the wage bills owing to the declining federal allocation to the state. Federal allocation to the state has reduced by 40 per cent since 2013, thereby making it difficult for my government to meet its responsibilities,” he said.

20 missing, 100 buildings, vehicles destroyed as flood wreaks havoc in Anambra community
No fewer than 20 people have been declared missing while more than 100 buildings and vehicles were destroyed yesterday by flood which ravaged Oduke, Ibollo and Owelleaja layouts in Obosi, near Onitsha, Anambra State.
Oduke and Ibollo residents have been suffering the devastating effect of severe flooding which they say was caused by the wrong channelling of drainage by a construction company that rehabilitated Ezeiweka road, Awada Obosi in the past leading to a surge of heavy floods into their area.
On Thursday evening, torrential rainfall that lasted for about two hours left the entire area flooded leading to several damages even as parents have been searching frantically for their missing children swept away in the flood.
When Saturday Sun visited the area yesterday, women and children wept profusely while men engaged in rescue operations. Some nursing mothers, whose little babies were later rescued from the flood, were also seen clutching the babies after receiving medical attention from the hospital.
Angry residents of Oduke layout had earlier blocked the busy Ezeiweka Obosi road that connects travellers to the Onitsha- Owerri highway chanting war songs while vehicular movements were stalled for several hours.
The protesters said they voted massively for Chief Willie Obiano during the last governorship election that made him governor and called on him to visit their area for an on-the-spot assessment of their problems with a view to addressing them urgently before they all perish.
Among the properties damaged in the flood included two four-storey buildings still under construction at Owelle Aja while several residential buildings, fences, schools, churches and vehicles at Oduke and Ibollo were either submerged completely or pulled down by the rampaging flood.
Addresing reporters after taking them round the submerged and damaged properties, Chairman of Oduke Landlords Association, Nicholas Okechukwu and his Ibollo counterpart, Chimezie Osuchukwu, in their separate speeches, said that they have been crying out to the Anambra State government to come to their aid since 2013 till now but all to no avail.
They lamented that the problem of the area is man-made disaster and tragedy foretold while they have spent all within their resources to handle the situation but help has not come from any outside quarter.
They lamented that that about 10 people have died from the disaster since the problem started while they have suffered untold hardship and economic losses over the incident.
Putting the estimated loss of properties from the current incident to about N2 billion, they called on the Anambra State government to declare a state of emergency in the layout and address the problem holistically.
Also at the International Electronics Market, Onitsha about 1500 shops and goods worth over N800m were also damaged by flood.
According to the president of the market, Mr. Izuchukwu Okoye, the flood came into the market when the volume could not be contained by the drainages along the Onitsha/Asaba expressway.
“Goods damaged were mainly from A and B lines and we appeal to the state government to come to our rescue”, Okoye stated.
Contributing, the Secretary of the market, Comrade Damian Ogudike said: “We pay our taxes and levies to the state government. The drainages are the problems and the expectation is that the state government should work on the drainages to be higher than they are now”.
“You can see the traders insisting that the money they paid to the government should be refunded to them since their problems in the market are not being solved”, the secretary revealed.

Trading on death’s path
BY LAWRENCE ENYOGHASU AND CHIZOBA IKENWA
“Sura, Sura, Sura”, a woman shouted as she heard a thunderous sound from afar. The sound was from the economy train arriving Ikeja, the capital city of Lagos State. It made her fearful, and rushed to secure her daughter. Iya Sura, as she was called, sells soft drinks and water on the rail lines at Ikeja.
Sura was at the time her mother was looking for her with a recharge card retailer on the other side of the bilateral rails. When she heard her mother’s shout, she turned spontaneously set to outrun the moving train but the card seller held her back knowing that she would not outrun the train.
If the man had not been calculative, she would have attempted to cross the railway. Who knows how it would have ended for her.
Beside Sura and her mother, Saturday Sun spotted others selling on the rail lines; a shoe seller, a recharge card retailer, and a water hawker and so on.
Saturday Sun tried to know if the traders were aware of the dangers of selling on the railway. Surprisingly, they were all aware that selling on the lines poses a lot of danger to them but they are still adamant on earning a living from there.
A man, Bello as he simply identified himself, who should be in his late 20s and sells recharge cards told Saturday Sun why people would prefer to stay outside in the open place and sell. “People like me would prefer to sell out here. The money I make here in a space of two hours, I am sure I would not make it in six hours in the shop. This place has more advantage than shop. You know it yourself.” He added that the spot is a hot cake, adding: “The total amount of cards I bring to this place is averagely N20,000 and I sell all in some days.”
Under the guise that one of the reporters is interested in getting a spot on the rail lines, Bello said he paid as much as N5,000 for registration and pays another N500 daily to the Ikeja local council. “Apart from the payment, I also sort the boys so that they won’t just change my spot. Sometimes they can sell your spot and give you new ones. In such situation, you can lose customers.” He, however, refused to identify the illegal tax collectors. “When you are ready I will take you to them,” he added.
The risky business is also the order of the day at the Yaba rail lines. There, the majority are hawkers. There are also people who just display samples of their goods for passers-by to see. They have shops inside the main market, but in order to get more customers than their counterparts in the shops, they move out to display some of the wares.
Saturday Sun gathered from Chiemele, a curtain dealer and interior decorator that they only pay N100 daily to hunt for customers outside and stand on the rail.
According to him, “the omo onile (illegal tax collectors) will tell you that you only paid for shop and not for the rail lines. So, if you want to stay there, you must pay what others are paying. It will not be wise to stay in and pray for customers to come while others are outside whisking them into their shops and making money just because you don’t want to pay N100.”
Also in Ebute-Metta, very close to the Railway headquarters in Costain, the railway lines turn to a mini market before the train’s arrival and departure. The women, who mostly sell stew ingredients, pack their stuffs in mobile trays and baskets to sell.
According to a woman, who identified herself as Iya Alaje, and sells on the lines, they use compactable in order to get off the lines without losing goods and to be at alert when the railway officers decide to raid.
Nevertheless, she expressed her confusion. “Sometimes, some people would come and collect money on behalf of the railway officials, later they would still raid and seize our goods,” Iya Alaje complained.
When asked if she did not know that she was endangering her life doing business on rail tracks, she answered with an adage: “The money is where the risk is”
Obviously, she knew the risk involved but she is bent on making money or losing her life or goods. Apart from those selling on the lines, whose lives are in jeopardy, their customers and passengers who hang on moving trains at a risk of losing their lives.
As part of efforts to seek official reaction to the allegations against the Nigerian Railway Corperation (NRC) and Ikeja Local Government, Saturday Sun contacted Mr. Abdulraouf Akinwoye, Deputy Director, Public Relations of NRC, who dismissed the allegation of the traders contributing money for the officials but said that he was aware that passengers hang on moving trains.
His words: “We are not unaware of the fact that people hang around the trains that run within Lagos. And we will leave no stone unturned in putting an end to the barbaric act. It is not done in saner climes.
“Anytime you see our train moving we have the policemen and man ‘o’ war on board. We have put in place some security measures.
“Even those people doing it know that it is wrong. Nigerians will not do the right thing. The level of indiscipline in the country is worrisome. So many people have been arrested; people have been taken to court and jailed. Much awareness has been created. We have been talking to them to keep off tracks. Sometimes we unleash a task force on them and you see them running. Before you say Jack Robinson, they would come back. We can’t stop them alone, it is a collective responsibility. However, anybody who chooses to sell on the track is on his/her own.
“I repeat, trading on rail tracks whoever is illegal. For those that are hanging on train tails, they should be ready to face the consequences of the action.
At Ikeja Local Government Area, Mrs.Yisa Mariam, the Public Relations officer, denied mandating anybody or group to collect tax from those selling on the rail lines. “We do not collect tax from them. It is not our jurisdiction. The rail lines belong to the Federal Government.”

Jaw Dropping Moment Holidaymakers Strip Off and Went Straight to Sex in the Middle of the Street
Magaluf, a popular holiday resort in Spain has over the years earned itself a dubious reputation of holidaymakers, stripping off and having sex in the middle of the street on broad day light – And recently, two Britons upheld the promiscuous reputation when they took of their clothes and went down to it, right in the middle of the street…
The horny pair’s steamy romp took place in an alley just moments away from the main strip of the resort, which is typically rammed with boozed-up party goers – When someone spotted the pair having sex in the street, he decided to film them on his mobile camera.
The clip, which is one minute and 19 seconds long, has been uploaded onto a pornography website and has earned more than 20,000 views.

We Are Shocked by the Magnitude of Oil Theft by Officials of GEJ’s Govt – APC
In a phone conversation with Punch, The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Abuja, on Thursday, said it was shocked at the magnitude of cases of corruption it has so far unearthed while going through the records of the previous administration…
Lai Mohammed, while reacting to the announcement by President Muhammadu Buhari that some officials of the immediate past administration were involved in stealing one million barrel of crude oil daily, said:
“We are not just shocked but taken aback by what we have found. We have always known that there was monumental corruption under the previous regime but we did not know it was this huge.Whereas, the Peoples Democratic Party has said the allegations of impropriety levelled against the officials of the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration must be proved in court – The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, said:
“Anybody who calls the questions we are asking a witch-hunt is a person who condones corruption, and again, when we were raising the alarm over this level of corruption they were engaged in, they said we were crying wolf where there was none.
“They said it never happened. They even went as far as manufacturing figures to cover up. We must ask questions so that whoever is coming into government will know that it cannot be business as usual and that he/she must be prepared to answer questions after they leave office.”
“Like I told you before, the PDP provided a transparent leadership for this country for the 16 years we were in power. What’s your take???
“It was the PDP that established the anti-corruption agencies we are celebrating today, like the EFCC and the ICPC. All we ask is that any probe of the last administration should not be used as an avenue to villify people who served this country diligently.
