Revealing this to newsmen yesterday August 16th, the Senior Special Assistant on media & publicity to the president, Garba Shehu, said the committee which will comprise of civil servants and security agents, will soon begin to go recover the properties and that the entire process wasn't designed to embarrass anyone but rather do what is right and fair to the Nigerian people.

"Even here at the Presidential Villa, there are cars and other property belonging to the government which are yet to be returned. The property belongs to the Nigerian people. We are not trying to humiliate anyone by asking them to return their cars or houses. May God bless Sani Abacha - IBB says as he turns 74

Former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida praised late former military head of state ,Sani Abacha who he said saved him from being killed during the Gideon Orkar coup in 1990 which was plotted to oust him from government.

Babangida said this while speaking with journalist in Minna, Niger state ahead of his 74th birthday today August 17th.

“I can remember fairly well that I had some loyal officers who were supposed to be protectors and bodyguards attached to me. Initially, they said I should move and I told them no, I was not leaving Dodan Barracks. But they remained hard up and very tensed, but very resilient. Later, I carried my family outside Dodan Barracks and joined my guards in battle. So we went out of Dodan Barracks to a safe house where we got in contact with loyal troops. May God bless General Sani Abacha. Sani Abacha was then the Chief of Army Staff. We got in touch with him and told him what was happening and he came down. We talked on what we should do. We rallied round loyal troops and I left my safe house and joined Abacha in his house and that was what happened.”he said
Happy birthday to him

Nigerian twitter reacts to Fayose saying he will not be intimidated by Buhari

Governor of Ekiti state Ayo Fayose is the number 2 trending topic in Nigeria currently. Nigerians on twitter are reacting to a statement he released yesterday saying that he will not be intimidated by President Buhari for speaking against anything he feels is not right in this government.
"I want to state without fear or favor that I will continue to speak the truth no matter whose ox is gored. Nigeria belongs to all of us and no one can intimidate me or the good people of Ekiti State who freely and overwhelmingly gave me their mandate. Democracy as a form of government thrives on our ability to ask questions and get answers from leaders. Rather than concentrate and make a difference within his 100 days in office, the president’s greatest achievement so far is harassment of PDP leaders, appointment of his in-law and kinsmen into sensitive positions, selective fight against corruption and arrest and detention of INEC officials who worked in States won by the PDP" he said

Letter to Abobaku of Ooni Ife the runaway sacrificial lamb ;-

Good day sir, wherever you may be and reading this letter.

I write to you, not as a son of Ile-Ife where you held fort, but as a true son of Oduduwa, our progenitor.
I have read in the media with utter disgust, how you braved the night and escaped from the palace of the Ooni at a time your services are most needed. Whatever informed your decision, I appeal that you reconsider your
----------
action and come back home and be counted among true sons of the ancient kingdom and as ardent believer in the tradition from which you benefited so much since 1980 when you chose to take up the title of Ab’oba ku to Oba Sijuwade.
While you held court as the Ab’oba ku of Ife, I never for once envied your ‘exalted’ position knowing that as the Ab’oba ku, you will die alongside the king.
You knew more than I do, the demands of the office to you occupied in the palace as the Ab’obaku of the ‘Source’. May I remind you that your job, among others, was to serve the Ooni whilst he lived and also attend to him in the afterlife.
You should be reminded of the famous Yoruba adage that says, Eyele kii b’onile je, ko b’onile mu, ko di ojo iku ko yeri, (A pigeon does not wine and dine with its owner and abandon him in death).
Already, your action has caused a lot of embarrassment not only to the royal throne of Ile-Ife, but to the entire Yoruba race. Though born many years after independence, I have not known of any of the numerous Ab’oba ku in palaces across Yorubaland that had acted the way you did.
May be you never knew, but there are fears now that many people holding similar office as you in Yorubaland could be considering what is now being regarded as “The Ab’oba ku Option;” a strange terminology in Yoruba lexicon. This, some elders say, would not only demystify the revered Yoruba culture and tradition, but could spell doom for its continued relevance.
As at last count, there are about five persons declared missing in Ile-Ife after the dreaded Oro cult went round the kingdom. Some now say if you had not absconded, there probably would be no need going after innocent souls to take your place in the burial rites.
Some are even trying to subject your action to legal interpretation but are usually reminded that the constitutionally guaranteed right to life does not extend to an Ab’oba ku in Yoruba land.
I plead of you to save Ile-Ife and the rich Yoruba culture, the embarrassment that surely will follow it due to your preference for affluence and ephemeral wealth.
Soon, there would be a coronation of another Ooni which means that that another Ab’oba ku would also accompany him to the palace. I have no doubt that anyone angling for that hitherto exalted position in the new dispensation would become an object of scorn and derision all due to your lily-
livered action.
I plead that you can come out of hiding and take your rightful place in history, since the burial rites for the Oni is now over. I am sure you would come back a hero, but where you fail to show up, your action would consign your descendants to perpetual ignominy.

Houseboy injures spine while peeping at madam bathing

A 26-year-old domestic worker, Ubong Etu Nbomang, injured his spine while peeping at his female boss while she was having her bath and he has since been hospitalised at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, Delta State, after the accident.
Reports claim that the houseboy allegedly made holes around the bathroom door, through which he peeped at his boss whenever she had a shower.
It is further reported that Nbomang had climbed on a platform to have a better view of his boss who is in her 30s.
A female friend to Nbomang’s boss, was said to have walked into the sitting room but there was no one there,so when she heard the sound of dropping water, she approached her friend’s bathroom out of curiosity, only to find the young man peeping.
The boss’s friend, said as Nbomang was peeping, he held his private organ.
She said she shouted at him: “Nbomang, are you peeping at your madam?”
Nbomang, jumped off where he was and slipped on the wet tiled floor when he heard the visitor’s voice.
The unsuspecting boss, who was shocked by her worker’s groans, was said to have rushed out of the bathroom half-naked.

Her friend said
“I said to her: ‘So, you are not aware he has been here watching you as you were busy having your bath? I met him peeping, after asking for who was in the house without any response. I have been here for more than 15 minutes now without him knowing.”’
While she talked to her friend, Nbomang who was still groaning in pains, asked his boss to forgive him and take him to hospital.
“Out of pity, the madam called her driver to take Nbomang to a hospital, while she later joined them at the hospital,” her friend added.
His boss confirmed that she was going to sack him.
She said"
“Before now, I used to see him looking at me but I didn’t think otherwise because I saw it as nothing. It was when he was confessing that I got to know that he was the one that bore tiny holes on my door, which until this incident I never knew of.”
Nbomang, who spoke from his hospital bed, pleaded:
“Help me beg my madam, na devil work. Na my madam beauty deceive me.”

Pistol-whipped cop didn’t shoot suspect for fear of backlash

The Alabama police officer who went viral after he was pistol-whipped with his own gun last week said he didn't shoot his attacker because he didn't want to make headlines as the nation's newest vilified cop.

The Birmingham detective, whose name has not yet been released, paused while a suspect attacked him during a traffic stop because he feared the country-wide backlash he might receive for killing a black man, the head of the local police union said Friday.

They're losing these confrontations," he added. "He who hesitates is lost." Images of the bloodied officer lying limp and face-down on the ground quickly went viral after witnesses dispersed them on social media, where the wounded deputy was heavily mocked by cop critics.

"Pistol whipped his ass to sleep," one Facebook user wrote. The plainclothes Birmingham cop was investigating a string of burglaries when he stopped a GMC Yukon and was attacked by the driver who immediately got out of his vehicle, authorities said. The suspect, 34-year-old Janard Cunningham, allegedly stole the detective's gun during the struggle and clubbed him repeatedly with it.

"Local law enforcement officers are walking on egg shells because they're so hesitant of how to interact because of what's taking place in the media," police Sgt. Heath Boackle, president of the Fraternal Order of Police said.

The officer was just trying to diffuse the situation," Boackle, 40, said.

"Mr. Cunningham sucker-punched the officer, immediately knocking him to the ground and gained control of his weapon and beat him until he was unconscious."

The detective, a six-year veteran on the force, had hesitated before Cunningham dealt the devastating blow, even as the suspect was quickly inching closer, the union president said.

"If the officer would have pulled his weapon, we would be talking about a totally different story," Boackle said.

"They're so afraid that what's going to be portrayed of them isn't going to be the whole truth of the encounter."

Cunningham, who has a violent criminal history, including an assault conviction in 2006, initially fled the scene, but he was quickly caught and charged with attempted murder in the attack. He appeared in court Tuesday, but his hearing was postponed because he didn't have an attorney.
The deputy, who suffered a concussion, is recovering at home after being treated at UAB Hospital, said Boackle, a 19-year veteran with the Birmingham Police Department.
"He's not going to be back at work for some time," the union president said. "He's still under the doctor's supervision."
