2 monarchs, one security escort kiddnaped by pirates in Bayelsa


Suspected sea pirates attacked two passenger boats and kidnapped three persons along the Ogbia to Brass waterways in Bayelsa yesterday August 26th. According to reports, the kidnapped victims, Chief Blessing Wagio and Chief Isaac Akono-Igolo, as well as an unidentified security man, were attacked around Kiberibio area of the Ogbia-Brass waterway.

The Bayelsa state police spokesperson, Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident but said detail are still very sketchy.

2015 Nigeria Customer Service Awards Nomination

The 3rd edition of Nigeria Customer Service Awards (NCSA) is slated for October 8, 2015 during the International Customer Service Week. The Awards will hold at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos.



NCSA celebrates service excellence yearly in Nigeria and also encourages companies to go beyond paying lip service to customers.‎ Companies are assessed by the following criteria: nominations, feedback from customers, professional evaluation of company management and staff as it relates to service delivery  and lastly, the visit of mystery shoppers to the most nominated companies for firsthand practical ‎observation. 

The Awards covers over 32 sectors among which are banking, telecommunications, transportation, media, courier service, E-commerce, insurance, pension funds administrators among others. Some of the 2014 winners are Access Bank, Channels TV, Etisalat, Kia Motors Nigeria, DHL, Konga and Phase3 Telecoms.‎
 
The coordinator Aliyu Ilias also said the application for the 2015/2016  Nigeria Customer Service Ambassador, a new initiative that has been introduced by the organisers, is open for Nigerian youths between the ages of 20 and 35 with passion for excellent customer service,


Six Nigeria Customer Service Ambassadors will emerge, one from each of the Nigeria's geo-political  zones (South -West,south-East, South-South ,North-Central, North-West, North-East ), as well as one African Customer Service Ambassador. The shortlisted youth will be evaluated in both theory and practical examination to emerge the Ambassador. The application closes on September 10, 2015.‎ The ambassadors will promote good customer service culture, identify and celebrate good customer service companies and also seek compensation for bad customer service to customers.‎

The winners will be unveiled on October 8th, 2015

Bauchi SSG, Ahmed Sulieman, emerges new Emir of Misau


The Secretary to Bauchi State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman, has emerged the new Emir of Misau in Bauchi State. The former Emir, HRH Doc Muhammadu Manga III died of an undisclosed ailment on August 17th. The new Emir's appointment is contained in a statement released by the Permanent Secretary in charge of Political Affairs, Government House, Bauchi, Malam Hashimu Yakubu. Congrats to him.

Photos: First African woman to take command of a Navy vessel

Lieutenant Commander Zimasa Mabela made history today, August 26 when she took command of a navy vessel. She’s the first African woman to assume this position. Mabela will be at the helm of SAS Umhloti (South African Navy ship) after taking over from the officer in charge, Commander Brian Shor.


"She will be taking over from Commander Brian Shor, who is currently the officer in commanding, SAS Umhloti. We are looking up at more women taking over commanding vessels.” said Lieutenant Obed Medupe.

TV reporter and photographer shot and killed on live TV in Virginia

Television journalist Alison Parker, 24, (left) and Photojournalist Adam Ward (right) with WDBJ7 TV, were shot dead by a gunman today Wednesday morning August 26th around 6.45am (local time) while reporting live on air at Bridgewater Plaza, Moneta, Virginia. The crew was carrying out an interview when gunshots were fired. Adam was first shot dead and Alison was killed as she tried to run. Alison graduated from college in 2012. The lady they were interviewing is in critical condition in the hospital.

The gunman is at large but the cameraman captured the killer on camera as he fell after being shot as his camera was still running. The motive for the shooting is not known. See the photo after the cut...

Chevron Nupeng members block entrance due to non payment of dues
