We went into drug trafficking for Christmas money— Suspects

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have smashed a drug trafficking syndicate, with the arrest of 14 suspects.

The suspects were alleged to have dissolved some of the drugs, worth N3 million, in water and absorbed in two towels and a T-shirt, while others were industrially packed in tin foods and body cream packs.

According to Vanguard, Eight of the suspects, according to Lagos Airport NDLEA Commander, Mr Hamza Umar, were apprehended at the point of smuggling the substance, which tested positive to cocaine, into the country from Brazil and Argentina, while six others were intercepted while attempting to smuggle the drugs to Hong Kong, Dubai, Italy and Brazil.

He said:

“Four of the suspects were apprehended aboard flight Royal Air Maroc, on their way from Brazil.

“Okafor, 25, was caught with 13.735kg cocaine in tin food; Okeke, 29, was arrested with 3.425kg cocaine absorbed in towels; Akpobome, 32, was found with 1.730kg of cocaine absorbed in T-shirt; Ani, 37, was found with 300 grammes of cocaine; Madububa, 38, ingested 845 grammes of cocaine; Amuka, 26, ingested 1.505kg cocaine, while Ijoganu, 25, ingested 1.240kg of cocaine.

“Others include Obiefuna, 40, who was found with 500 grammes of cocaine; Ogbodu, 48, was caught with 1.650kg of cocaine; Nwakama, 32, was caught with 1.060kg of cocaine; Egbueme, 31, was found with 1.190kg of cocaine; Nwachukwu, 38, was found with 975 grammes of heroin/cocaine; Adebayo, 30, was caught with 5kg of cannabis and Oforegbu was caught with 505 grammes of cocaine.”

Christmas money

During investigation, some of the suspects reportedly told operatives that they went into the business to raise money to celebrate Christmas and New year.

For instance, Akpobome said that he was promised N2 million if he succeeded in smuggling 1.730kg of cocaine absorbed in a T-shirt from Argentina to Nigeria.

Okafor said he was promised N10 million, while Nwakama said he would have been paid over N1 million had the trip not been botched.

Okafor, alleged to have been arrested with the largest quantity of drugs which was concealed inside tin foods, said:

“I was tempted into drug trafficking because I had no one to help me financially.

“I travelled to Brazil a year ago in search of job. But I ended up hawking toys in Brazil to sustain myself. Along the line, a friend promised to pay for my ticket to Nigeria to spend the end of year festive season.

“He was the person that gave me the drugs packed inside tin foods. I agreed because the amount will assist in no little means to celebrate Christmas.”

On his part, Egbueme described his arrest as divine after he was told that the offence of drug trafficking in his destination country attracts capital punishment.

According to him,

 “I used to sell used amplifiers in Abuja, until I met a former secondary school classmate, who currently lives in Tanzania. He sent the drugs to me and assisted me with my travel documents and other expenses.

“I ingested 55 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.190kg. I had no idea of the punishment for drug traffickers in Hong Kong until I was arrested.

“God has rescued me from death and I will never smuggle drugs again in my life.”

Describing the arrest and seizures as a good way to end the year, Chief Executive of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade assured that the agency will continue to detect hidden drugs and prosecute offenders, adding that the suspectswould be charged to court soon.

Elder statesman and chieftain of the PDP Alhaji Tanko Yakasai over the weekend explained why he thinks President Jonathan didn't visit Chibok. He said:

“Why I think the president’s decision not to visit the area is not bad is because we were all aware of the deteriorating level of insecurity in that part of the country. I don’t know what is happening, the Minister of Defence, Ali Gussy, is a northerner, the National Security Adviser is a northerner, the Inspector General of Police is northerner, the Chief of Defence Staff is also a northerner. “All Nigerian soldiers are under his order, if all these people cannot address the problem how would it be easy for the president to do it? Don’t forget that suicide bombers are now experts, so what will happen if they ambushed the president and something bad happened to him? Do you think his people will accept that? Except if people want the country to return to the Niger Delta militants era.”

A 55-year-old man, identified as Osaro, has been arrested by men of the Edo State Police Command for allegedly defiling his nine-year-old daughter.

Osaro, according to his wife, Stella, had earlier impregnated their 17-year-old daughter, just as she told newsmenat the Ogida Police Division, Benin, that she recently returned to her husband’s house after he said he had repented.

She said:

 “My husband wanted to sleep with my second daughter. He later succeeded in sleeping with my other daughter. After impregnating the girl, he begged me several times to forgive him.

“He started the church I attended and confessed what he had done. The church members begged me and I accepted him. He has already paid my bride price so I went back.

“After we had settled, my husband started with our daughter again. The little girl told me what she was going through in the hands of her father. I asked my husband, but he denied. He said he had stopped the act since he repented.

“One afternoon, I caught him with our daughter. I went to the church and vowed that I cannot continue with the marriage. I am tired of forgiving him all the time.

“On Christmas Day, he drove me outside at about 8 p.m. He was alone inside with the children. The next day, my daughter told me what he did to her. When I decided to check my daughter’s private part, he wanted to beat me, but neighbours intervened.”

Some of you guessed the ladies I was talking about - Oge Okoye and Nkiru Sylvanus. Yep, Nkiru is set to marry Stanley Duru, Oge Okoye's ex-husband and father of her two kids.

Like I said in the last post, Stanley was first Nkiru's boyfriend but while they were having issues he met Oge, she got pregnant and they did some kind of introduction. They broke up and now he's back in Nkiru's life. They were supposed to get married this past Saturday Dec. 27th but sources close to Nkiru say it didn't happen and that they will likely marry early 2015. Nkiru will eventually release a press statement to address the drama.

I hear Oge is furious about this and people close to her say though she's moved on from Stanley, she's devastated he's trying to humiliate her by marrying her colleague.

In a very sad accident, a mother was shot dead by her 2-year-old son while they shopped on Tuesday morning.According to Police, 29-year-old Veronica J. Rutledge was with her four children at a Walmart electronics department, the boy was seated in a shopping cart when he reached into his mother's purse, accessed the concealed gun and fired.

Kootenai County sheriff's spokesman Stu Miller tells reporters that the shooting was accidental and occurred in the store in Hayden, Idaho, a town about 40 miles northeast of Spokane, Washington.

They say she was visiting from her hometown of Blackfoot, Idaho and looking to spend some gift cards the family received over the holidays.

The deadly incident was captured on video surveillance and several store employees also witnessed the event.

Buhari Has Health Issues and May not Last More Than a Year in Office Before Dying - Daily Post

A source, knowledgeable of happenings within the corridors of power, Aso Rock, has said there is a security report concerning the health of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential standard bearer.

The source told Daily Post that the 72 year-old former Head of State may not live more than a year or two if he assumes office as Nigeria's President in 2015.

"Many people think the presidency or the PDP is trying to portray Buhari in a bad light or declare him unfit for the nation's topmost job but the information I am giving you is authentic," he assured.

Asked to provide specifics of the content of the security report to back up his claim, the source said: "A part of it goes thus: "Should Buhari win, he may not be able to complete a single four-year tenure due to his health condition as he continues to manage his health secretly."

"Let me ask you these questions: Why do you think Tinubu was ready to risk a Muslim/Muslim ticket? Why do you think he presented himself at the eleventh hour when talks were on to pick Buhari's running mate? When he failed in his quest, why do you think he picked his associate of 20 years?

"The truth is that Tinubu and his cohorts knows the demands of office will tell on Buhari and same will either kill him or weigh him down excessively," the source added.

North not backing Buhari

The source further told Daily Post that powers that be in the North are not comfortable with the choice of Buhari.

"Look, many eminent personalities in the North are not supporting Buhari's candidature because they also know this fact that I am saying," he said.

"They are aware that Buhari may not see 2019, so they don't want to gamble. We all know there exists a Northern cabal and these guys will rather wait for President Jonathan to complete his eight years and hand over to them. They want eight years too!

"So they have agreed not to throw their weight behind Buhari, who may not even see four years through. The North do not want a repetition of the Yar'adua saga; there are being very careful.

"This is because if anything happens to Buhari, power will return to the South; South-West for that matter and this may happen less than a decade after Baba Obasanjo left Aso Rock.

"Not just that, power will effectively be in the hands of the rogue called Bola Tinubu because Osinbajo is his confirmed stooge. Can you now see all these indices? Now, who in his or her right senses would believe that the North are backing Buhari. Certainly, not the North I know."

17-yr old transgender's suicide note blames her Christian parents for not being supportive

A transgender teenager who committed suicide by walking in front of a tractor trailer in Ohio left a heartbreaking letter in which she blamed her religious parents.

Leelah Alcorn, 17, died in the early hours of Sunday on highway I-71 in Warren County, Ohio, a few miles from her family home.

The high school student left a suicide note accusing her devout Christian parents of refusing to acknowledge her gender and forbidding her from transitioning.The suicide note was posted on Leelah's tumblr account through scheduled publishing just a few hours after her death.

The note begins:

 If you are reading this, it means that I have committed suicide and obviously failed to delete this post from my queue.

Please don’t be sad, it’s for the better. The life I would’ve lived isn’t worth living in… because I’m transgender. I could go into detail explaining why I feel that way, but this note is probably going to be lengthy enough as it is. To put it simply, I feel like a girl trapped in a boy’s body, and I’ve felt that way ever since I was 4.

I never knew there was a word for that feeling, nor was it possible for a boy to become a girl, so I never told anyone and I just continued to do traditionally “boyish” things to try to fit in. 

When I was 14, I learned what transgender meant and cried of happiness. After 10 years of confusion I finally understood who I was. I immediately told my mom, and she reacted extremely negatively, telling me that it was a phase, that I would never truly be a girl, that God doesn’t make mistakes, that I am wrong. If you are reading this, parents, please don’t tell this to your kids. Even if you are Christian or are against transgender people don’t ever say that to someone, especially your kid. That won’t do anything but make them hate them self. That’s exactly what it did to me. 

My mom started taking me to a therapist, but would only take me to christian therapists, (who were all very biased) so I never actually got the therapy I needed to cure me of my depression. I only got more christians telling me that I was selfish and wrong and that I should look to God for help.

When I was 16 I realized that my parents would never come around, and that I would have to wait until I was 18 to start any sort of transitioning treatment, which absolutely broke my heart. The longer you wait, the harder it is to transition. I felt hopeless, that I was just going to look like a man in drag for the rest of my life. On my 16th birthday, when I didn’t receive consent from my parents to start transitioning, I cried myself to sleep. 

I formed a sort of a “f*** you” attitude towards my parents and came out as gay at school, thinking that maybe if I eased into coming out as trans it would be less of a shock. Although the reaction from my friends was positive, my parents were pissed. They felt like I was attacking their image, and that I was an embarrassment to them. They wanted me to be their perfect little straight christian boy, and that’s obviously not what I wanted. 

So they took me out of public school, took away my laptop and phone, and forbid me of getting on any sort of social media, completely isolating me from my friends. This was probably the part of my life when I was the most depressed, and I’m surprised I didn’t kill myself. I was completely alone for 5 months. No friends, no support, no love. Just my parent’s disappointment and the cruelty of loneliness. 

At the end of the school year, my parents finally came around and gave me my phone and let me back on social media. I was excited, I finally had my friends back. They were extremely excited to see me and talk to me, but only at first. Eventually they realized they didn’t actually give a shit about me, and I felt even lonelier than I did before. The only friends I thought I had only liked me because they saw me five times a week.

After a summer of having almost no friends plus the weight of having to think about college, save money for moving out, keep my grades up, go to church each week and feel like shit because everyone there is against everything I live for, I have decided I’ve had enough. I’m never going to transition successfully, even when I move out. I’m never going to be happy with the way I look or sound. 

I’m never going to have enough friends to satisfy me. I’m never going to have enough love to satisfy me. I’m never going to find a man who loves me. I’m never going to be happy. Either I live the rest of my life as a lonely man who wishes he were a woman or I live my life as a lonelier woman who hates herself. There’s no winning. There’s no way out. I’m sad enough already, I don’t need my life to get any worse. People say “it gets better” but that isn’t true in my case. It gets worse. Each day I get worse.That’s the gist of it, that’s why I feel like killing myself. 

Sorry if that’s not a good enough reason for you, it’s good enough for me. As for my will, I want 100% of the things that I legally own to be sold and the money (plus my money in the bank) to be given to trans civil rights movements and support groups, I don’t give a shit which one. The only way I will rest in peace is if one day transgender people aren’t treated the way I was, they’re treated like humans, with valid feelings and human rights. Gender needs to be taught about in schools, the earlier the better. My death needs to mean something. My death needs to be counted in the number of transgender people who commit suicide this year. I want someone to look at that number and say “that’s f***ed up” and fix it. Fix society. Please.
