Nigerian doctor who groped suicidal woman keeps his job after he blamed 'cultural differences'

A Nigerian doctor, Emmanuel Kanu (pictured above) who touched the breast of a vulnerable divorcee in her home days after she'd attempted suicide will be keeping his job after citing cultural differences.

Report from UK Daily Mail
Dr Emmanuel Kanu stroked her breast, repeatedly tried to kiss her and told her, 'You want it' when she tried to escape his clutches during the visit - which he hid from colleagues. When she later texted him to tell him to stop ringing her he withheld his number on the next call.
But Kanu, a married Nigerian father of one, has been allowed to keep his job by a fitness to practise panel even though the General Medical council called for him to be struck off.
He told the panel he had not molested the patient and claimed 'cultural differences' led to the visit on September 3, 2011, saying: 'There is a clear divide between the doctor and the patient here, which is very different in Nigeria.'

But the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service only suspended the 36-year-old for six months, despite finding he was guilty of sexually motivated serious misconduct.
Campaigners against violence towards women criticised the 'incredibly lenient penalty'. Nicole Westmarland, former chairman of Rape Crisis and Professor of Criminology at Durham University, asked 'what it takes for a doctor to be struck off'.
She said: 'This doctor has committed a number of sexual offences on a woman who was in a very vulnerable position.
'A six-month suspension is an incredibly lenient penalty and the question remains: what will happen within the six months that will supposedly change his behaviour when he returns to work?'

The doctor, who had recently completed GP training and was undergoing specialist training in psychiatry, was on a locum shift at the A&E department of Darlington Memorial Hospital, County Durham, when the divorcee was brought in after taking a 'substantial overdose'.

She was still recovering in an emergency ward bed when he asked for her mobile number and then rang her when she was discharged five days later to say he was 'thinking of her'.
He arranged to meet the mother-of-two, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at her home in Darlington for what the woman believed was a medical assessment.
But he asked to use her laptop and then viewed Facebook photos of her as he sat next to her on a sofa.
A report into his actions stated that he put his arm around her and stroked her chest. It added: 'She informed the panel she was "scared, frozen to the spot" and said "I was unsure, he was a doctor".

'She said when you saw the picture of her [breast] feeding her son you said "They're big. Are they as big as that now?" and squeezed her left breast.'
When she stormed off to her kitchen Kanu followed her and kept trying to kiss her, saying at one point: 'I can see it in your eyes that you want it.'

Kanu, who qualified in 2005 from the University of Nigeria, called her after he left but the woman, who was 43 at the time, texted: 'It was not right what you tried to do. You are a doctor and I was your patient. I didn't want or asked to be touched by you.'
Kanu, who worked at Borders General Hospital near his home in Melrose, Roxburghshire, was acquitted of sexual assault at Durham Crown Court in 2012.

He told the fitness to practise panel he had not molested the patient and claimed 'cultural differences' led to the visit on September 3, 2011, saying: 'There is a clear divide between the doctor and the patient here, which is very different in Nigeria.'
But this was dismissed as not being a 'credible explanation'. The panel branded his behaviour 'deplorable' and 'unprofessional.'

Kanu denied any knowledge of the case when approached by the Daily Mail. A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust said Kanu was dismissed as soon as the complaint came to light.

See What Etcetera Thinks Of Buhari’s Supporters

etcetera
According to Etcetera, the entertainer turned writer:
Stupid is a word that has a broad range of applications, but it generally means a person lacks rudimentary intelligence or the ability to reason. It can also imply a congenital lack of capacity for reasoning, or a permanent state of daze or slow-mindedness. However one defines or applies the word stupid, you can hardly think of the word without directly relating it to the utterances of some Buhari’s supporters; especially the supposedly literate ones.

Over the past week, it became apparent that the level of stupidity inherent in those inclined to support certain politicians at all cost is beyond comprehension. In fact, it is frightening that so many Nigerians of voting age lack the fundamental reasoning ability
of a second-grader and are even less-informed about basic facts than a kindergarten. I have heard some of the most bizarre ideas peddled by some Buhari’s supporters and I am really concerned about the future of this country.
I have heard troubling statements like:
“It really doesn’t matter if Buhari is qualified or not, he must be the next president and we’ll vote for him. Even if he presents a NEPA bill as certificate, we don’t care, we will vote for him.
Are these people for real? To base your position on whatever absurdity your favourite candidate espouses; regardless of reality is the reason why we are in this hell of a nation.
These are exactly the type of supporters Nigerian politicians bank on to win elections. These goons should know that in a democratic system, we live by the constitution and the Nigerian constitution in section 131 (d) gives a specific order for all presidential candidates to show proof of education up to a minimum standard not below school certificate or its equivalent. If Buhari doesn’t have the required qualification, he should be disqualified immediately or if it is proven that his certificate or result was doctored or forged, he should be arrested and charged to court for deception.
Atahiru Jega and his INEC got us into this embarrassing position. How can someone refer INEC to the Secretary of the Military Board for his credentials when it is stated clearly that every contestant should attach copies of their qualification to their forms?
INEC is a joke. If elections are conducted like job interviews, can the applicant direct his would-be employers to his previous work place for his credentials? Won’t the applicant be chased off the premises with a stick or security dogs? How do we bring about the clamoured “change” in the nation when we can’t treat the nation’s business as ours?
Nobody is saying you shouldn’t support Buhari or any candidate of your choice but it shouldn’t be based on sentiments of any kind. The other day, a radio presenter was screaming like a banshee on radio of how Buhari is a man of great ideas, you shouldn’t be the one telling us what Buhari’s ideas are. As a radio presenter, it is against NBC regulations for any presenter to influence listeners’ votes. Buhari should sell himself convincingly enough to earn their votes.
Aren’t we tired of having leaders who can’t sell their ideas themselves? That’s why they haven’t approached the subject of how they are going to revive the economy in any of their campaign speeches?
Let’s not be stupefied into supporting any candidate. We are screaming for a corrupt free nation, yet we are refusing to see that electing someone without the required qualification is as good as endorsing corruption. No one would want to admit that half of this country’s population is inherently stupid, much less ignorant, but at the rate politicians garner votes based on sheer fantasy and lies, there is no other conclusion that makes any sense whatsoever.
One thing is certain; if Nigerian voters were not so stupid, they would not knowingly go against what is right, whether for their personal, ethnic or religious interest. Our politicians know that without stupid people, most of them would be extinct as viable political forces. But they are far from going extinct and it is all down to the level of stupidity permeating this sad ignorant nation
Do you agree with him???

Hehehe!!! Kanye, Kim and Her Boobs Meet President Obama

obam
It looks like President Obama and the Wests are back to being buddies – Move over the era when Obama called Kanye a Jackass and Kanye even made some statements about Michelle Obama being on the cover of Vogue, instead of his wife, Kim Kardashian…

Kanye and Kim West met Obama at a State Dinner back in October 2014 but we are only just seeing it now because Kim just shared the photo on her instagram page, with a hand written note from the president, which read:
“Thanks for the support, and best wishes to you and your daughter”
Cool uh????

No Plans To Postpone February Elections – Jonathan

gej1
President Goodluck Jonathan has allayed the fears of some Nigerians that next month’s general elections would be postponed. Mr President gave the assurance while debunking allegations by the All Progressives Congress, APC that the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, are involved in surreptitious schemes to postpone the February 14, Presidential election.

The assurance was conveyed in a statement by the president’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Prof Rufai Ahmed Alkali, and according to him:
“The attempt to denigrate the Presidency of Nigeria and drag it down the cesspit of vile propaganda and rumour mongering is unfortunate and signpost’s the APC’s disregard for our revered institutions…
“We wish to draw the attention of Nigerians to the fact that it is the APC and their unruly supporters that have been doing everything possible to frustrate the conduct of a free and fair electoral process.
“It is therefore a great irony that those who have consciously worked to frustrate the February 14 elections are the ones crying out the most and accusing others of the plans to shift the polls.
“Nigerians have been assured by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that preparations for the elections are on course. We therefore have no doubt that the elections will be a huge success, much to the disappointment of the naysayers,”
What do you think???

Rapper Suge Knight Allegedly Kills Man in Deadly Hit and Run

B8kQbG6CIAIpd9B
Suge Knight is at it again, after all the terrible things that went down for him in 2014, the new year doesn’t look any brighter for him either, as might possibly do some time in jail, after running over and killing a man with his car. According to TMZ:

Suge Knight got into a fight on the set of a film project in Compton, ran over a man who later died, and then fled the scene.
Multiple witnesses tell us a movie shoot was going down with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre when Suge pulled up in his car. We’re told security told Suge to leave and that’s when trouble began.
A fight broke out between Suge and 2 men. Suge got back into his car, took the wheel
and threw the vehicle in reverse … and ran over a man who suffered fatal injuries.
It’s unclear at this point if the victim was connected to the film project.
Sources connected with Suge tell TMZ … the 2 men who fought Suge were the instigators. Our sources say Suge was scared because he’s in frail health — in addition to being shot 6 times last summer, he recently almost died from a blood clot.
The victim is Terry Carter, who we’re told is a friend of Suge’s who arrived with him at the scene. Our sources say Carter was in the process of walking to the passenger door of Suge’s vehicle, but happened to be in the rear when Suge gunned it.
Two other men were also hit … including Cle “Bone” Sloane — who’s appeared in “Training Day” and “End of Watch” — and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both men are in the hospital
His lawyer, according to some reports are arranging for him to turn himself and that might probably reduce the sentence to either manslaughter or something… Isn’t it so legal fellas in the house???
