Taribo West, Waje, Omawumi, others watch as football triumphs in Malta Guinness Game On

All good things come to an end and so it was with the first season of Game On, the Malta Guinness-powered reality series to find Naijas’ true passion. The thrilling show kicked off with an opening round of jokes and banter by humour merchants, Owen Gee and Lepacious Bose who after getting the audience in stitches handed over to another king of comedy Gordons, the official; host of the night.

Lanre and Amokachi for the final time had the opportunity to defend their passions in one minute before a recap of memories of the contestants in the house and on tasks.
Without much ado the run way was lit and came to life with the fashion team putting their best foot forward to present an amazing show on this grand finale, the football team wouldn’t be left behind as they blew the audience away with a football inspired dance piece so good musician Waje couldn’t but score them a 8 over ten when asked what she thought of their performance. Noble Igwe rooting for the fashion team believed they scored 9/10. Mind-blowing performances by delectable R&B songstress, Niyola and Alobam crooner, Phyno got the entire audience rising to their feet, singing and dancing along and breaking into applause for the rapper when he was done.
The moment of truth came and Naijas true passion was finally unveiled as Olumide Ajibolade was declared final winner over Henrietta with Team Football winning 52% of the votes to Team Fashion’s 48% in the outcome of voting by Nigerians on Facebook and by SMSes across the nation.
Shocked Olumide broke into prayers as he beamed with joy and called his family to break the news in 6 words “tell them say I don win”, the crowd erupted into laughter and applause.
Uche Onwudiwe, the Marketing Manager of Malta Guinness said “we are glad to have been the umpires in finding Naijas true passion. People have always assumed it was football and really the fashion industry is an exciting one plus they gave a good fight on this one but football came out tops with a narrow margin. However, whichever passion it was, the Malta Guinness brand purpose is all about helping the everyday Nigerians get ready for that big break that is all around us either by nourishing them with goodness and vitality or helping them with rare opportunities like this one”.
Reacting to his win of the grand prize which is a trip to England for a series of trainings and coaching classes and a sum of two million Naira cash, Olumide said they say Malta Guinness fuels the passion of Naija, I am a testimony! Our lifes are changed forever and I am deeply grateful to Malta Guinness, my team captain Daniel Amokachi, our rival captain Mrs Lanre Da Silva, all other contestants and the almighty God.
Celebrating the win on this grand night with the contestants were a list of celebrities that includes football legend, Taribo West; Rapper Phyno, songstress and vocalist, Waje and Omawumi; media personalities Joseph Benjamin, Adams Ibrahim and Noble Igwe , DJ Xclusive, amongst others.
By the win, Nigerians have shown that football is the superior passion in the country and Malta Guinness has helped to fuel the passion of Coach Olumide Ajibolade.

That's how it's done! Indonesian women troll cleric who ‘banned’ selfies

Lol. Some Indonesian women decided to troll & mock a well known Indonesian cleric after he issued a ban on women taking selfies in the country. Below is a report from Alarabiya.net
Never ask a woman not to take a selfie, especially if she is Indonesian it seems. Many Indonesian women declared a social media war on Felix Siauw, a renowned cleric who issued a fatwa claiming that taking self portraits was a sin. The women’s response? Launching the hashtag campaign #Selfie4Siauw. Continue...

I a tweet stream, the cleric issued a 17-point manifesto in which he outlined the reasons for condemning selfies, according to the website  Coconuts Jakarta.
“If we take a selfie, sift through and choose our best pose, and then we’re awed and impressed by ourselves - worryingly, that’s called PRIDE. These days many Muslim women take selfies without shame. There are usually nine frames in one photo with facial poses that are just - My Goodness - where’s the purity in women?,” Siauw wrote.
The 30-year-old cleric has over a million followers on Twitter.

Nigerian army relocates over 200 female soldiers from Maiduguri in anticipation of Boko Haram attack

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the Nigerian military authorities are moving female soldiers based in various army formations in Maiduguri and other parts of Borno State to Abuja as the army anticipates a massive attack on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, by Boko Haram.
The sources said there was heightened apprehension about an impending attack, hence the decision to reassign female soldiers to Nigeria’s capital. The military action also stemmed from the death of five female soldiers and the abduction of another four by Boko Haram militants when they attacked a military base in Baga a few weeks ago.
Following recent intelligence indicating that Boko Haram militants were strategizing on a fierce offensive to capture Maiduguri before the February 14 elections, the army moved more than 70 female soldiers last week.
One of our sources revealed that 146 more female soldiers had been moved to Maiduguri airport, where they are awaiting airlift to Abuja. The source said that all the female soldiers were supposed to have left by 10 a.m. on Thursday, but added that the military did not have a large enough aircraft to take their entire luggage.
The security sources also told SaharaReporters that Maimalari Barracks, home to the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army, is the only military base left standing in Borno State. Maimalari was described as the only military formation capable of withstanding a major attack from Boko Haram militants. One source said that Nigerian military intelligence had received information that Islamist militants were regrouping in areas around Maiduguri in preparation for a major offensive against the city.
The Islamist fighters’ attempt to take over the state capital last week was foiled, with Nigerian troops and civilian vigilante members collaborating to kill more than 100 terrorists. However, the militants successfully overran Monguno Barrack, killing and injuring many soldiers.

Lil Wayne Takes Cash Money to Court

bnw
It looks like Lil Wayne has filed a lawsuit against Cash Money after all – According to TMZ, the suit is asking the judge to end his contract with Cash Money, because Birdman and his record label violated the deal by withholding tens of millions of dollars the record label owed him for his long delayed album “The Carter V”…

According to Weezy, he’s entitled to walk away since Birdman refused to pay him, after from that, he wants the judge to declare him a joint owner of all Young Money recordings and also wants to take his artistes(including Drake and Nicki Minaj) along with him.
According to TMZ, Wayne was supposed to get a $8 million advance when he began recording in December 2013 and another $2m when he completed the album a year later, but up till this moment he hasn’t gotten a cent.
Deal gone sour uh?

Jalingo Youths Stone Jonathan’s Convoy

Jonathan-cries
Hehe!!! Nigerian youths are not smiling and we can’t blame them o, the situation of the country is enough to spark the anger of the youths and that’s how President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy was on Thursday stoned by some aggrieved youths in Jalingo, Taraba State.

This would make it the second time in one week, Jonathan’s convoy would be stoned by angry Nigerians (in Katsina and Bauchi states ) and now he was in Jalingo for a PDP campaign rally, and as he was going to the palace of the Emir of Muri, Abass Tafida, from the airport, the windscreens and windows of some of the vehicles on the convoy were destroyed before security operatives used tear gas and horsewhips to disperse the youths, Punch reports.
However, the spokesman for the PDP in the state, Napoleon Adamu, who lamented the incident, said the youths were protesting, because they were not carried along:
“We are happy that no life was lost and we want to appeal to our teeming youths to eschew violence and not to take the law into their own hands.
“Even before the date the President’s campaign was fixed, the youths had been complaining that they were not carried along by the committees constituted for the visit.”
Hmm!!! So just because they were not carried along???
