Just In: Ambode Sacks Lagos Building Agency GM, Others Over Tragic Lekki Collapse

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has sacked the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Adeigbe Olushola, and three others following the Lekki building collapse that killed 35 people last week.

Apart from Olushola, Ambode approved the dismissal of the Head of Inspection and Quality Control in the agency, Adeoye Adeyemi; the Zonal District Officer in the agency, Dosunmu Gbadebo; while the Zonal Head of Eti-Osa West of the agency, Mrs. Akinde Sherifat, was compulsorily retired from the civil service.

A statement by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola, quoted the governor as saying the affected officers were dismissed after they were indicted for negligence.

According to him, negligence is an act of misconduct under the Public Service Rule 040401.

“Rule 040401 of the Public Service act of misconduct states that “A willful act of omission or general misconduct to the scandal of the pubic or to the prejudice of discipline and proper administration of the state Government” should be visited with dismissal from the public service in line with the Public Service Rule 040503,” the statement said.

The Head of Service said the disciplinary measure was the outcome of the recommendations of the Personnel Management Board to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who was personally grieved by the number of lives lost in the building collapse.

Justin Beiber has replaced himself as number one on the UK Singles chart. Last week, Canadian pop star Justin Bieber was in the top spot with ‘Sorry’ and now he’s still sitting at number one, but this time it’s with single ‘Love Yourself’. Both singles are taken from his latest album Purpose.

Bieber is also dominating the top five, with ‘What Do You Mean’ taking the number four spot. ‘Love Yourself’ racked up 5.97million streams in the UK this week to move up one spot, according to the Official Charts Company.

‘Sorry’ clocked 5.5million streams online and Bieber’s impressive chart feat has also seen him entering the record books again, as only two other artists have ever replaced themselves on top of the UK singles chart.

The last artist to do so was Elvis Presley in 2005, when reissues of ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘One Night/I Got Stung’ hit Number one in succession.

The last living artiste to do so was The Beatles in December 1963, with ‘She Loves You’ and ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’

Oprah Winfrey Tells How She Was Raped By A Cousin At 9, Losing Her Baby At 14

Oprah Winfrey has revealed the name she chose for the premature baby boy she lost when she was just 14 years old. She also spoke of being raped by a cousin at the age of 9.

The  61 year old former talk show host opened up about her painful past when speaking at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, according to news.com.au.

"I did an interview with a reporter before I came to Australia and she said you should name the baby son who died," "So I have named him, I had a little boy named Canaan," I did have a son. And I named him Canaan because Canaan means new land, new life."

Winfrey spoke movingly about the sexual abuse she suffered as a young girl, which resulted in the pregnancy.

"I was raped at 9 years old by a cousin, then again by another family member, and another family member,"

Winfrey reportedly said, adding that she tried to hide her pregnancy at 14 because she felt so much "pain and shame."

"I took to my bed and cried for three days. I felt devastated. Wounded. Betrayed. How could this person do this to me.I imagined that every person on the street was going to point their finger at me and scream, 'Pregnant at 14, you wicked girl ... expelled!' "

How God pulled me out of mess and abuse - Chris Oyakhilome's ex wife writes new post on her blog

Anita Oyakhilome, wife of Christ Embassy's Chris Oyakhilome, recently took to her blog to thank God for pulling her out of mess and making her lead a life now free from abuse.
"December is the last month of the year I start every month thankful and for this month of December I am eternally grateful. I am worthy of love, to give and receive. I have value and self-respect, no one has the ability to oppress, suppress or depress me. I am enough and complete in God. My today is better than yesterday.

I have come to a place of wholeness, strength and joy. God pulled me out of mess; I have a happy life free from abuse. No one can take the place of God; he is sovereign and reigns forever. Man is mortal and his days on earth are numbered. When the end comes, it is a glorious thing to return to our maker, to dwell in His holiness and truth. The end of the year brings a rebirth of another year.

The death of something can be the rebirth of another thing. All is not lost. Whatever happens in your life, no matter how distressing things might seem. When darkness appears endless, watch out for that tiny spark of light, when you can muster up the courage to thank God for closed doors. In the process of counting your blessings, you find joy!".
