BMW has put an all-electric, 40-ton truck into regular service on the streets of Germany.
According to sources, the European auto manufacturer partnered with logistics company SCHERM to deploy the vehicle in Munich, where it will ferry car parts eight times a day between BMW's manufacturing plant and SCHERM's warehouses.
The companies say the truck is the first of its kind to be used on public European roads, and will be charged exclusively with electricity from renewable resources, according to various sources.
According to reports, the truck isn't built by BMW itself, but by Dutch manufacturer Teberg. The vehicle model — the Terberg YT202-EV — has only previously been used on closed roads such as ports, and BMW says introducing such a large electric vehicle to public roads is an important step forward for the technology.
"With this project we will gain valuable information on what will be possible with electric trucks in the future for city logistics," said BMW's head of logistics Jürgen Maidl in a statement.

6 things Muslims should never do on Twitter

Here’s my guide on how to use Twitter for Muslims.

Knowing that twitter is one of the most used social network by Nigerian youth, it is pertinent to enlighten us all on how to use twitter efficiently without wasting time and ensuring that we don’t make terrible mistakes while using it.
Here’s my guide to Twitter etiquette for Muslims.
Stop and think. Before you press that tweet button, think and reflect on what you are about to tweet. If you really want to tweet. Make sure what you are about to tweet is truthful, harmless and beneficial.
Wrong Islamic adviceIf you are not a scholar, don’t act like one. I don’t want your opinion on issues that have already been agreed upon by the ulama. Keep your opinion to yourself.
Google it!
If you take 10 seconds to Google (or Bing or Yahoo or whatever) instead of 10 seconds to blindly cut and paste, you’ll save yourself all kinds of embarrassment. It’s important to understand what happens when you tweet content that is untrue or fake: Not only did you just ensure that more people will be able to see it, but you also look really silly
Cyber Bullying/ Hate Speech
Social Media has given people a new platform to post hateful comments and even threats. Don’t ever post about how disgusting a tribe or religion is, it is nauseating.
Information without linksIt’s fine to tell us about a cool website, but include the link, OK?
Profanity
A Muslim keeps his mouth shut if he doesn’t have anything nice to say. Don’t call anyone stupid or foolish on Twitter, be polite and respectful. A Muslim doesn’t cuss to be “cool” and chooses his words intelligently because he can get his point across better without dropping an f-bomb or an s-missile.
In short, behave on twitter like you would at a social event. No one suspended the rules of polite society for Internet interaction.
Don’t forget the hadith that says “most people that are in hellfire are in there because they couldn’t control their tongue.”  In the Qur’an, God states that he has given man “two lips and one tongue” so the lips can control the tongue. (Surah Al Balad)

Collapsed building: T.B Joshua launches attack on coroners verdict

Article written by freelance Synagogue Church reporter, Ihechukwu Njoku. Read below...
Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua has launched a scathing attack against the verdict of the coroner’s court in Lagos yesterday which ruled the tragic collapse of a building within his church last year was due to structural failure.
"The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations rejects the verdict of the coroner on the grounds that it is unreasonable, one-sided and biased,” a statement released via their official Facebook page read, attributed to Barr. Olalekan Ojo, lead counsel to The SCOAN.

“The church maintains its stand that the incident was as a result of sabotage,” the statement continued, further adding that the public should not be misled by media reports casting sensational headlines suggesting the church was liable for prosecution over ‘criminal negligence’.

The statement highlighted that no evidence was found that The SCOAN hired incompetent professionals or used substandard materials in the construction of the building.

“There was no finding that connected the incident with the lack of a building permit,” the statement proceeded, adding that the process of procuring the necessary approval was well underway and had been assessed and accepted by relevant government agencies before the incident.

“The church disagrees most vehemently with the finding that the incident was due to structural failure,” continued the strongly worded statement, insisting the verdict failed to consider substantial evidence which pointed to sabotage and ruled out structural failure.

“It was a one-sided verdict which left many issues unaddressed and questions unanswered.” The SCOAN highlighted that the verdict failed to even recognise the CCTV footage released by the church which showed “the 6-storey building falling in less than 4 seconds – a manner consistent with controlled or externally induced demolition”.

It concluded by stating that Chief Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe’s admission “that the conduct of the investigation of the incident was compromised... calls into question the integrity and reliability of the entire investigation.” Joshua’s supporters were vocal in their support of the ‘prophet’ in the thousands of comments posted beneath the statement, many insisting the verdict was the work of ‘the devil’.

“If you bury a lie, it will rot. If you bury the truth, it will rise,” wrote Opeyemi Oduwole. “We South Africans know what happened to the building; we know the truth. No matter how they lie, the truth will prevail,” added Bridget Mkhonto.

Joshua followed up on the statement by posting a video on Facebook highlighting the differences between controlled demolition and structural failure with the caption, “No matter how fast a lie runs, the truth will someday overtake it.”

UN urges FG to clean-up recovered towns

Boko Haram: UN urges FG to clean-up recovered towns Boko Haram: UN urges FG to clean-up recovered towns
(Today)
The UN on Thursday urged the Federal Government to clean up the communities liberated from Boko Haram to make them safe for the displaced persons to return to. UN Resident Coordinator, Dr Daouda Toure, made the appeal in Gombe at the screening of 2,000 Boko Haram victims from Adamawa, Borno and Yobe for a one-year skills acquisition programme.
Toure said many of the recovered communities had been contaminated with the rubbish left behind by the activities of Boko Haram and therefore, were unsafe to return to.
"We must clean the North East, especially the places that are crisis-ridden of the rubbish and the carcasses of the corpses of the people that litter such places. Their wells that have been contaminated by all these corpses must be cleaned up or completely sealed up and other means of water provided.
"The places must also be examined to ensure that landmines are not buried and endangered the lives of the returnees," Toure said. Toure, who was represented by the Conflict Prevention and Peace Building Analyst, Mr Matthew Alao, explained that the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) were eager to return.
The UN official said most of them had gory tales of their experience in strange lands and would like to return home, especially as the rains were setting in. He said cleaning up the areas could pose a daunting task especially, as most houses in places like Bama and Gwoza were completely razed down and needed to be rebuilt.
He, however, pledged the UN support in cleaning up the areas, saying the organisation has special interest in the exercise and was already carrying out several early recovery programmes. "If we are to really work we must move ahead immediately but I’m not sure the government is moving at the pace of the people.
"The people want to return immediately and you can also understand why they want to return; they have been in strange lands for sometimes. Some of them are already coming back and most of the people coming back are giving sad stories of their experience in the neighbouring countries”, he said.
According to him, "home is home; they want to come home but how do we move ahead to ensure that the liberated areas are cleaned up? This is very critical. If you don’t clean up the communities and you allow the IDPs to return there, you are endangering their lives in terms of epidemics.
"You are also endangering their lives in terms of even being killed by landmines because landmines may be there that can blow anybody off. So the situation must be right, must be conducive for the people to return home and this has to be led by the government.”
Toure also said it was paramount for the military to be actively involved in the clean up, adding that they could be used in carrying out some physical reconstructions. "As soon as they military liberate an area, they should also clean the area and make the place safe for the people to come in. The military must be involved; they must buy into it and adequate fund should be provided so that we can move forward.
"Even the military can be used to carry out some physical construction of public facilities damaged by Boko Haram”, he said.

A 42-year-old mother of four, Joy Obioma, on Thursday urged an Igando Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her 22-year-old marriage for what she called her husband’s lunacy.
"My husband is not well, sometimes he can just go naked and start breaking bottles, looking for who to stab and everybody in the compound will be running for their dear lives.
"There was a day he ran out of the house with a cutlass looking for somebody’s hand to amputate,’’ she told the court.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the woman had filed a suit seeking the dissolution of her marriage to Godfrey, citing his lunatic fits.
Joy added:"One day he (the husband) threatened to pour acid on me to disfigure me and make me less attractive. He also threatened to burn down the house and run away."
The petitioner said she could not continue to live with her husband for the alleged signs of madness.
Joy who alleged that her husband was a hemp smoker, said:"This is the first thing he takes every morning before food. Indian hemp is my husband’s first meal before breakfast, he takes it around 5.00 a.m., and after taking it, he will start to misbehave and pounce on me.
"I have been paying our rent, the children’s school fees with the support of my parents and siblings.’’
But the hubby, 49-year-old Godfrey, who denied the allegations, said nobody could separate him and his wife.
"My wife and I are made from `heaven’ to be husband and wife, nobody can separate us,’’ he told the court.
He said he could not kill his wife but admitted threatening her with some dangerous weapons. Godfrey pleaded with the court to save the marriage, saying "I am still very much in love with her.’’
The President of the court, Mr Hakeem Oyekan, fixed judgment in the case for July 22.

Alhaji Abubakar Yabo, the Secretary of the Aliyu Magatakarda Advocacy Group ( AMAG ), on Thursday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the prompt release of funds to settle the salary arrears of workers in some states.
Yabo told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) in Sokoto that Buhari had demonstrated his commitment towards ensuring good governance in the country.
He said that the gestures would enable the affected states to settle workers with a view to motivating them.
He, however, called on the Federal Government to investigate why the affected states could not pay the salary arrears, in spite of collecting their monthly allocations regularly.
He said that such an indepth investigation would also enable the Federal Government to recover such funds and prevent a recurrence.
Yabo called on Nigerians to be patient with the present administration as all hands were geared towards making things better for the governed, irrespective of party affiliations.

R. Kelly sued by his older brother for not paying his salary

According to TMZ  R. Kelly's brother Bruce Kelly is suing him because he hasn't been paid in over 3 months. Read report below...
"R Kelly worked his brother to the bone -- 144 hours/week according to Bruce Kelly ... who says he never got a dime, so now he's blowing the whistle on the singer with the State of Illinois. Bruce says his younger bro hired him in March as a personal assistant and driver, and they had a verbal agreement -- for $700 a week, Bruce would do food runs and chauffeur R. Kelly. But the brotherly love faded after Bruce started working overtime without seeing any green.
According to docs filed with the state labor board, Bruce says he sometimes had to wait up to 12 hours in the car for R. Kelly … and never got any sleep.
He tells us he even spoke to R. Kelly about the $11k in back pay he claims he was owed ... but baby bro didn't care. Bruce says he put his foot down after 3 months because he's "not working for nobody, not even his brother, for free."
The labor board is still investigating his claim. We reached out to R. Kelly's reps, but no one's gotten back to us.
Fun Fact: This isn't the first brother R. Kelly has thrown under the bus. Back in 2008 R Kelly claimed it was his brother Carey, not him, in a video having sex with an underage girl

Back in 2011, illustrator Erica Glasier created an artwork for a Forbes article titled ‘The Bank of Facebook: Currency, Identity, Reputation’.
For reasons that no-one can understand, that image now makes up one in every 120 images on Imgur, the internet’s leading photo repository.
Sources say the phenomenon seems to have been first spotted by a Reddit user back in February, and more recently analyzed in detail by TheGamble.
According to reports, he analyzed a million random Imgur URLs, and recorded what was found at each one. Monopoly Man, as Glasier’s image is now being called, showed up 3,568 times.
That’s 0.833% of all Imgur images, meaning that it’s probably been uploaded around 3.2 million times — an insanely high number for anything that’s not the work of some secret Illuminati botnet.
