PDP National Leadership Beg Obasanjo For Forgiveness
If you are still one of those who think former president Olusegun Obasanjo has lost his relevance in the scene of Nigerian politics, then you have to wake up from your slumber, as recent reports claim, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday, formally tendered an unreserved apology to the former president, for whatever they must have done wrong to him in the past.
The apology was made by the PDP through its national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu; Senate President, David Mark and the immediate past governor of Ogun State, Chief Gbenga Daniel, while receiving Daniel, along with his supporters, who formally returned to PDP, Nigerian Tribune reports.
The former governor of Ogun state, who returned to PDP along with all his supporters, Gbenga Daniel was the first to speak sayings:
“I wish to tender an unreserved apology to the former president, Chief Obasanjo, for whatever misunderstanding between me and him. He should regard all these as matters between father and son.”On his part, Mu’azu appealed to Obasanjo, whom he described as the father of all, irrespective of what must have happened, to come immediately and lead PDP to victory in 2015.
“we are appealing to our Baba to please accept our apology. He should please come and lead us to victory. We need you now, please come.”According to Alhaji Mu’azu, his closeness to Obasanjo, has given him an insight into knowing how committed Obasanjo is to the PDP, declaring that Obasanjo was even the brain behind the electoral victory of Daniel as the governor of the state.
Daniel stated that the crises among the leaders of the party in the state, is the reason Ogun was lost to All Progressives Congress (APC) and vowed that such a mistake would never repeat itself again.
Among party leaders that graced the occasion were the Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko; Chief Bode George; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Minister of state Defence; Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, Minister of Police Affairs, among others.
