Comedian Robin Williams' official autopsy report has just been released. And according to it, his death has been officially ruled as suicide, asphyxia due to hanging.
A Marin County coroner's report released on Friday stated that after a toxicology test on the star's body, no alcohol or illicit drugs was found in his system. Prescription medications were detected but
in concentrations consistent with their use for therapeutic purposes.
The 63 year old
Mork and Mindy star was found dead in the bedroom of his home in
Tiburon, north of San Francisco, on August 11. He was last seen alive by
his wife when she went to bed. She woke up the next morning and left,
thinking he was still asleep elsewhere in the house. But not until
William's personal assistant came to the home and became concerned when
the actor failed to respond to knocks at a door.
The comedian had
battled on and off with drugs and alcohol for decades and had admitted
himself to a clinic earlier this year for treatment. In the months
before his death, Williams had been diagnosed with Parkinsons and was
said by his wife to be sober, but struggling with depression. The day
after his death, he was cremated and his ashes scattered over the San
Francisco Bay in a private ceremony.
