Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang
(The News Nigeria)
The Government of Plateau State
has announced that it incurred a debt of N18bn during the eight-year
tenure of outgoing Governor, Jonah Jang.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Badu after the State Executive Council meeting in Jos.
Badu made the clarification in response to insinuations made by All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains in the state that a debt of N200 billion had been incurred by Jang’s administration.
The
Commissioner stated further that the misinformation about the true
measure of the state’s indebtedness was becoming a source of worry
adding that the government had nothing to hide.
Badu
explained that the Jang-led government had to borrow N48 billion to
finance the execution of capital projects around the state.
