The National
Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has decried the increasing
involvement of married women in drug abuse. According to Daily Trust.
the Assistant Superintendent in charge of Exhibits at the Sokoto State
Command, Ali Baba Mustapha, said this at the Jigawa Day celebration
organised by indigenes of the state at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University,
Sokoto yesterday.
He said women took cough syrups that contained codeine believing that it would enhance their sexual appetite. Mustapha warned that if unchecked, this trend could generate into marital crisis and even divorce. He dismissed the belief that cough syrups enhances sexual appetite.
