Avengers’ plan to declare Niger Delta Republic suffers setback

Delta - The proposed plan to declare Niger Delta republic on August 1 by Adaka Boro Avengers, ABA who claimed to have the collaboration of other militant groups in the Niger Delta region has suffered a setback.

The Foundation for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Crusade, FHRACC and Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, both in Delta State have kicked against the proposed move.
The groups on Tuesday called on the militant group to abort their mission and intention to declare a republic of the Niger Delta region.

In separate statements issued by the groups in Warri, they noted that the right thinking indigenes of the area are not on board with the plan to declare a Niger delta republic.

The FHRACC national president, Alaowei Cleric noted: “The growing threats by some militants groups , particularly the Adaka Boro Avengers to declare Niger Delta Republic on the August 1, 2016 does not conform with the tenets of the Niger Delta struggle.”
Nigerian top secret  previously reported that the militant group Adaka Boro Avengers have asked non citizens of the South-east and South-south region to leave the region.

The group also warned  warned south east and south south people to return back to the region as a date has been set for the declaration of the Niger Delta Republic.

In a statement, on Sunday, signed by General Edmos Ayayeibo, the group said it has concluded arrangements to make the Niger Delta Republic a reality even as it ordered its people to return home and told northerners and westerners to leave the Niger Delta and eastern states immediately.

It also issued a quit notice to the military and all agencies belonging to the Federal Government to evacuate the Niger Delta states and the eastern parts without delay. Failure to obey the order, it said, would lead to a total destruction of military personnel and agencies.
