It looks like the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF would have to look really really hard for a foreigh coach for the nation’s football team, as one has turned down offer to manage the team over Ebola scare.
According to AfricanFootball.com, former Chelsea manager Ruud Gullit, has been contacted to take over the African champions, after the Eagles’ remaining two 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo and South Africa, but the Dutchman has rejected the offer because of fears over the spread of the Ebola virus and kidnapping.
According to one of his representatives, the job is “high risk”, especially with the upcoming elections, therefore Gullit is not interested in coaching Nigeria.
A source who spoke with AfricanFootball.com, also confirmed these reservations and admitted that other top Dutch coaches may also turn down the chance to coach Nigeria for the same reasons.
“The fear of Ebola in Nigeria is still very real even though the Nigerian government has announced it has successfully tackled the disease there,”.Na wa o!!! Kidnapping – I can understand but what has Ebola got to do with this o????
“Also, Gullit is a top personality and he told the person who spoke directly to him today (Monday) that he fears he may be kidnapped in Nigeria.
“What is clear is that these fears may not be only limited to Gullit. Most other top Dutch coaches will also stay away because of these should they be approached for the job.”
